Only Keiko and Minato heard Itachi's startling revelation.
The orange-haired man: Come on, Suigetsu.
The blue-haired man is revealed as Suigetsu Hozuki.
Suigetsu: Man, I had my differences with the b*tch, but she was actually pretty cool.
Suigetsu and the orange-haired man turn and slowly approach the doorway to leave. Minato and Keiko make way for them. Still shocked by the revelation, Itachi kneels in front of the doorway, as still as a statue.
Konohamaru: Jugo, Suigetsu, where will you two go now?
The orange-haired man is revealed as Jugo.
Jugo: To give Karin a proper burial and to.....have vengeance.
The dead woman's identity is revealed as Karin Uzumaki.
Shikamaru: Wait.
The former Taka members stop a few feet from the exit, which is just a few inches from Itachi.
Shikamaru: Allow me to prepare a strategy. It would be wise to come at this situation in a tactical manner.
Jugo: My patience has reached its limit. This cannot be postponed.
The two continue their leave, but Itachi has yet to budge.
Suigetsu: Hey brat! What's your deal?!
Itachi doesn't respond. Suigetsu turns his head to Minato.
Suigetsu: You'd better tell your friend to move or things are going to get uglier than they already are.
Knowing that it isn't the time for a brawl, Minato shakes Itachi by the shoulder.
Minato: Come on, bro....snap out of it.
Itachi pulls away from Minato's touch. Then he raises his head and stares at his his mother's face, her unmoving body in Jugo's arms.
Itachi: Who...is....responsible...for...this? Who...killed...her!?
Neither Jugo or Suigetsu answer his question. Itachi gives in, slowly rises to his feet, and steps to the side. Then, Jugo and Suigetsu take their leave.
Keiko: Lord Konohamaru, what was all that about?
Konohamaru: Keiko, you're one of the village's elite jonin....but, I'm afraid this is information that can only be shared with certain shinobi.
Shikamaru: Yes, you three are skilled beyond your years. Though, this isn't of your concern.
Minato: But-
Tsunade: No "buts". The only thing we can ask of your three is to send your fathers here, immediately.
Keiko: Dad is long-gone. He's on his way to the Hidden Cloud Village to train Shindo and Aizu. But, knowing Tigris' speed, they're probably already there.
Konohamaru: I guess we'll have to wait for Kakashi-sama's return to begin discussing this matter.
Shikamaru: Yes, that'll be the best decision. Kakashi-sensei has a way of analyzing situations that even I cannot fathom. His assistance will be greatly required.
Minato: Okay, I'll tell dad when uncle Kakashi returns. If that's the only way we can help, then we'll be on our way now. Come on, guys.
Everyone except Itachi exchange "see ya's" and "goodbye's". Minato, Itachi, and Keiko leave the mansion. Minato usually knows how to comfort his brothers and friends, but he has never dealt with a situation like this before. So, all he can come up with to say he an obvious, rhetorical question.
Minato: Itachi, everything cool?
Itachi: Yeah..I'm going to go do some training. See you guys later.
Minato: Okay, bro. Don't get yourself into any trouble.
Keiko: Bye, Itachi...
Itachi heads for the training field to condition his body to increase his endurance for when he uses his Eight Inner Gates.
Minato: Looks like we gotta better mission than we ever hoped for.
Keiko: Huh? What do you mean?
Minato: Come on, Keiko. Don't you know me better than that? If that woman was Itachi's mom, then all of this craziness that's happening must involve him somehow. My brother's problems are my problems. Lord Konohamaru must be nuts if he thinks I'm going to butt out of it.
Keiko: Hey! I care for Itachi, too. Both of you are like brothers to me.
Minato: (Ouch).
Minato secretly has a crush on Keiko, so being like a brother to her sucks to hear for him. He has much more important things to worry about at the moment though.
Minato: We can't tell anyone what we're about to do, especially our parents.
Keiko: Pshh, I'm 18. Like I have to worry about my parents butting in.
Minato gives her a skeptical look. Like a "Really? Are you sure about that?" face.
Keiko: Okay, okay. Dad and mom still treat me like a baby. Even uncle Kiba can be nosey.
Minato: That settles it. Now, we just have to make preparations. I have a feeling this isn't going to be an easy mission. But, since when do I like easy?
Keiko: Never. None of us do, that's what makes us top-notch shinobi. Well, we've got to give credit to our bloodlines as well. Alright, let's get started.
Minato: Meet at the gate tomorrow?
Keiko: Yeah, sounds good.
The two go home and make preparations for the journey that they will begin the next day.
Itachi: (My whole life, I've carried this foolish grudge towards the parents I've never known. After seeing my mom, dead in that man's arms, I can't help but to forgive her. I love Naruto-san and Hinata-san, but the feeling that overtook me when I felt my mom's presence cannot be compared. Now, I've got this incredible urge to avenge her). !!!
Being the great sensor he is,—a trait which he gets from Karin— he senses an enormous chakra. The only chakra he has sensed that is comparable is Naruto's, but this chakra is dark and sinister. Naruto's chakra is light and pure. Itachi finds the source of this massive power. Someone or something hovers 25 feet above the ground and 30 feet from Itachi. The only things that Itachi can make out are wings, long hair, and the figure of a man. The man seems to be staring down at Itachi. Itachi pulls out a kunai and activates his sharingan.
Itachi: (What the...?)
With his sharingan, Itachi can see that the man's body overflows with powerful, purple chakra. The average shinobi's chakra flows through certain routes and patterns, but this man's chakra is unusual in every way. Well, at least to Itachi's knowledge. He then launches a Fire Release: Great Fireball at the man. But, it is countered with the exact same jutsu. When the smoke fades, the man is gone.
Itachi: (....Judging from his chakra, he could've killed me if he wanted to...)
Itachi continues to head home, but more alert this time.
Itachi: (First, my mom is murdered, then a man with wings stalks me. I'm not liking where things are going...)
He finally gets home. Everyone is sound asleep. He takes a shower, grabs a snack from the kitchen, and hits the sack.
Itachi appreciates the peaceful night, knowing that chaotic times await him.

Night falls and Itachi finishes his long session of training. He heads for his home—Naruto's mansion. All of the villagers are inside, sleeping and such. Even to be midnight, the sky is darker than usual, absolutely black. The street lights and lamps gives out a faint glow. Being the strong, confident shinobi that he is, Itachi walks with a normal pace, unphased by the strange night.
