I bring this cause I found the similarities between the 2 stories very interesting.

"The tale of the bamboo cutter" is considered as the oldest japanes folktale (10 centuries , 1000 years , interesting , the fruit , 1000 years ... ).

-It primarily details the life of a mysterious girl called Nayotake-no-Kaguya-hime ("princess of flexible bamboos scattering light"), who was discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant.

-She is said to be from Tsuki-no-Miyako (月の都 "The Capital of the Moon").
Joke:Madara's book was dirty , he read Tsuki-no-Mi , disastrous.

-she wears the Hagoromo , a robe that allows her to fly from the moon to the Earth.

Joke:The Hagoromo clan flew back to the moon , that's why they vanished.

-she was sad , and came back to her people. Her adoptive parents were sad , the emperor was sad.She had brought sadness on Earth.

-When Kaguya-Hime was ascending back to the Moon, she was attacked and devoured by a She-Youkai to gain her eternal life youth. The She-Youkai then disguised her as Kaguya-Hime, aiming to use her stolen powers to trap the mortal world in frozen time and eternal night.

You will find many, many, many, similarities between Japenese folktales and Japenese anime all the time.

Almost every write/creator uses them for ideas.
