Last time I checked, the sand and sound shinobis were the ones doing the destroying. Shukaku was the main part of the plan. The Senju bros were only being used to combat Hiruzen. If anyone saved the village from destruction it was Naruto and all the other Konoha shinobi that fought off the invasion. Even if you say that Oro was going to use the Senju bros to crush Konoha after beating Hiruzen, there was still a matter of all the other stuff. Therefore Hiruzen only partially helped in saving Konoha, but he did not solely save the entire village. Also, he didn't permanently seal away the Senju bros because he did not destroy the Uzumaki death reaper mask. Therefore, the bros' release was still possible and it eventually happened. Also, the dimwitted one is the one who can't debate in a civil manner without name calling. Laughing is fine.

Kabuto even stated the reason why the coffin failed. It was because of Minato's soul not being in the pure world. Even if he made a hand sign, it could have just been for some other purpose. The third coffin went down after the shurikens hit it by the way. This means that Hiruzen was referring to the shurikens as what "stopped it".

No Hiruzen did not win, he basically Madara Orochimaru unable to further his damage, causing his to retreat.. Orochimaru succeeded in killing Hiruzen.

Problem: Orochimaru CHOSE not to keep on attacking the village. Because he still could've done a whole lot of Damage. =].

For someone to win a fight to death, they must be the last person standing. Which was Orochimaru. Achieving their goal doesn't = winner. Thats is only a sad excuse used to justify your point of view.

He has no kekkei genkai whatsoever, only two chakra natures, no sage mode... Basically, nothing special. So how could he have held the title with such basic powers?

noone ever said he wasn't able to go sm before his chakra decreased due to his old age... about the other parts lol... not being an Uchiha, an Uzumaki or a Senju doesn't automatically make you fodder... Kabuto is a perfect example

The fact is Hiruzen stopped the coffin from having anyone inside it, if Hiruzen didn't stop it then we would've seen te coffin open revealing the sacrifice instead of Minato.

1) His Chakra was so powerful that even in his old age it would dense the atmosphere when he used ninjutsu. Watch his fight with Orochimaru when he used Dragon Bullet.

2) He was extremely well at learning difficult Jutsu, this is actually thought to be the KKG of the Sarutobi Clan as even konohamaru was able to master Rasengan and Shadow Clone jutsu at a very very young age.

3) He, much like Kakashi who mastered 1000 different Jutsu, Hiruzen too was said to have mastered every jutsu in the village. Which is what earned him the name of God of Shinobi.

4) He mastered 3 different jutsu styles including Fire, Earth and Water.

5) Even at his old age he was said to be the strongest of the current 5 Kages. This includes A, Mei, Gaara/His Father and Oonoki.

6) Tobirama felt that he was strong enough to lead the village even though at the time he was no older than 18. And so he appointed him Hokage before his death.

If you want you can be critical of his fight with Orochimaru but keep in mind that even the ANBU noticed that he could not bring himself to kill Orochimaru. And King Enma even noted that his performance against Orochimaru, albeit extremely impressive, was miserable in comparison to him at his prime.

I am not neccesarily a Hiruzen fanboy, but even I can appreciate how strong a ninja he is.
