Fuuin, knowing as sealing has two different forms. One is Sealing/unsealing. The other is types of barriers.

The sealing aspect is general tied to Kanji, a written script that draws something into the seal, storing it. It's like it's in it's own little space time realm where it's stored. The you can unseal it at any point. Sealing has lots of uses, like we saw Jiraiya draw Amaterasu into a seal to store it away. Unsealing is seen in a few forms, like unsealing weapons. It has a lot of uses.

Barriers can be as simple as a defense like we saw when Orochimaru wanted to kill the third hokage, or a barrier can be used for sensing like seen when Jiraiya created one to try and sense Pein. There are lots of different types of barriers.

There are aspects of Fuinjutsu you need to know. Would be useful when you want to make a cj of yours and when understanding the basic concept and how fuinjutsu seals work.

Fuuinjutsu is made up of 6 parts:

The Object/Target of the Seal - basically, whatever you're going to seal. And in this its crucial to understand the latus sense of what it means to seal something. You are able to seal not only a physical object but also energy or even metaphysical events such as souls or chakra. You can also seal links, such as those of a contract summoner with his summon or other seals. You can seal movement but also memories or emotions. The broad range of sealing objects is enormous.

The Medium/Vessel - basically, its what's going to contain the Object/Target. You can have organic vessels, inanimate or even simply pure chakra/energy as a vessel. Some seals are, themselves, a the medium and the vessel.

The Trigger - not all seals have this but 90% of them have. Its what triggers the sealing technique. It can be anything from trying to speak of a secret to simple handseals or chakra. The trigger is always there in latent seals; time delayed seals such as danzo's juuinjutsu. Some however don't have it such as the Contract Seal.

The Binding - this is the seal itself and it can be handseals, kanji formulas, etc. Its basically what will wrap, manipulate and contain the Object/Target into the vessel but also what alters the vessel to allow it to serve as a medium for the target of the seal. Its the most complex part and one of the more important ones.

Chakra - all seals require chakra to be produced, maintained or released. Chakra is what you expend to forcefully seal your target. This means that you'll always need to, as well, spend chakra to keep the target sealed. Some seals, such as the jinchuriki seals, don't use your own chakra (the one from the sealer) but that of the vessel, to keep the target sealed. Vessels can fuel the seals put on them if they are sentient beings and as such with their own chakra source. Because chakra is needed to keep the sealing, it has been verified that seals can also weaken with time as it deplets the chakra used to sustain it or as the vessel or binding becomes weaker/altered.

The Key - again, not all seals have this but most do. Its the key to unlock the seal and release whatever is sealed back into the world. A key can be anything from a sequence of handseals, which is more usual, to dna, like blood, or even a simple mental command. The key will basically do the inverse that the trigger does. It will manipulate the bindings into releasing the Target of the Seal.

This is a barrier type of fuinjutsu. It let's you prevent someone's movement. Though weak, it has its own usefulness.


( Fuuinjutsu: Kōmu Kekkaijutsu ) - Sealing Arts: Crimson Mist Barrier Jutsu

Description: By summoning a thick wall of mist, the user can impair sight for all within it. It also masks any sound from being heard outside of the mist. The effectiveness of this technique varies between users as it depends on the user's skill. Starting at Chunnin rank, this lasts for 1 turn and can be extended 1 turn per rank increase up to Kage rank (6 turns). Chunnin and Special Jounin can use this up to Short range, Jounin and S-class Ninja can use this up to Mid range and Sannin and up can extend this to long range.

- Once someone enters the area, the seal activate, preventing someone from leaving.
- Only works on people the same rank as me or weaker
- Can use this x2 to make it one rank stronger.
- Has no limit once placed, so a good trap

( Fuuinjutsu: Kōmu Kekkaijutsu ) - Sealing Arts: Crimson Mist Barrier Jutsu
- A fuuin type pmist that covers sound while impairing sight.
- Lasts an extra turn based on your rank. So chuunin for me is one turn. but this is based on the the old ranks. So i'm assuming jounin is the same as sannin, lasting for 5-6 turns up to logn range.
- I guess it's released from me and spreads out then lasts until then

(Kekkai: Tengai Hojin) - Barrier: Dome Method Formation
This was used by jiraiya against pein. Not that it says in the description, but he clapped his feet together as he couldn't make handseals and swung his head around. The barrier pushed out around him to try and sense anything. The user is the medium, quite useful if you don't have a form of sensory.

(Kekkai Houjin) - Barrier Method Battle Array
A nice little trap. Place explosive tags that are then triggered by someone passing into the area they encompass. This might be quite useful in the ninja world. Self explanatory really.

Note: Must make direct contact. Regular Fuuinjutsu users can dispel Barrier Techniques B-Rank and below. Uzumaki bios can dispel up to A-Rank. Advanced Sealing Specialists can dispel up to S rank Barriers.

Still on barriers. A nice way to undo barriers. Though weak if you are not an advanced user.


(Fusen no Kekkai) Tag Barrier

A simple technique to break barriers. As it stands i can only break B rank and below. The better you are with fuuin, the better the barrier you can break. You infuse chakra into to break it.

Shame it doesn't work on regular fuuin and only works on barriers. But still has it's uses.

(Fusen no Kekkai) Tag Barrier
A simple tag which you can apply to a weapon or surface to create a barrier around it. Nice way to add a bit of defense though with his rank being weaker it wont serve much use from what i've seen in my fights so far. You can try to contain a target but same as above, it's a bit too easy to break

Mugen Hōyō) - Infinate Embrace

Description: The user slams his hands on the ground and generates a special barrier that surrounds the target forming a "cuboid" construct of pink chakra which begins draining the chakra of the target caught inside. This technique can be used in conjunction with shadow rope technique or other restrictive techniques to further hinder the target. Once caught inside it, the target cannot mold chakra above S-rank and the barrier itself can only be broken by B-Rank techniques or by attacking the user of the technique.


Still on barriers. A special barrier that siphons/seals chakra and also restrains the target from mold higher amount of chakra into techniques.


(Fuuinjutsu: Kami Komyunikēshon) Sealing Arts: Scroll Communication technique

To activate the scroll, the user needs to perform a key of hand seals that will be unique for each creation and only known to those the user wishes, preventing the use of the scrolls by those the user doesn't allow.

- You slam your hands on the ground using that as a medium to create barrier around your opponent, in the form of a cube.
- It drains the person caught
- It prevents them using chakra above S rank, so jutsu with more than 40 chakra (forbidden etc)
- Though it can be broken by B rank and above techniques.

Can be useful in stopping them using high ranked techniques if used at the right point in the timeframe but I know there is a stronger version.

(Fuuinjutsu: Kami Komyunikēshon) Sealing Arts: Scroll Communication technique
- Pfft, this is outdated. I've seen in boruto they have phones.... lmao
- A nice stealthy way to communicate over long distances. Helpful in the ninja world. It means your messages can't be found by the enemy

Description: A basic sealing technique where the user places one or more tags either directly on a target or on a technique which is restraining it. As its placed, a sealing formula spreads around the technique or the target, sealing it. This technique has been seen used with Sand ninjutsu, Earth, Water, Wood, Cloth Ninjutsu, etc but basically any technique in which you can apply the tags can be used. In the case of expert ninjas, the tags might even be incorporated into the restraining technique, with no need to actually manually place the tag or tags. Additionally, less experienced ninjas can find that throwing one or more kunais with the sealing tags attached at the technique which will trigger the same effect when the kunais stick on the technique. This prevents the target from moving, molding chakra or even being summoned.
Note: The seal takes a while to form, so most opponents can either counter the restraining technique (thus preventing the sealing formula of taking effect) or rip off the tags from themselves negating its effects entirely. If the target, however, fails to counter the restraining technique or is counter to it fails or if he doesn't remove the tags in his next move, then the seal will fully be placed and the target unable to release himself.
Note: This technique is specially designed to be used on summons and Edo Tensei Summons but will work on any opponent except Jinchurikiis.

The first one is basically what really helped when it came to sealing edo tensei. Once the seal is in contact with someone, it stops them from moving, moulding chakra or being summoned. It's something I might try and make some custom jutsu based on The object is the tag, the key is contact, it can seal people/edos/clones maybe, muu's second body? xD

The second one basically tells bijuu to chill. We have seen this in Naruto's trainings. It's actually wild a B rank tag can stop a bijuu's powers but who am I to judge. Only works on incomplete jin's though, but if you can place that tag.... they then suffer the drawbacks from activating the jin form.

( Han'you Fūin ) - Generic Sealing Technique
- This sounds like Tenten's favourite jutsu with the way she fights. It's basically storage no jutsu. You can store weapons or corpses etc. As they aren't effected by time, you can seal a corpse that would be perfect for Pein to make into one of his paths haha. You can't seal alive people or their custom weapons.

( Fūin Wana Bakuhatsu ) – Sealing Trap Explosion
A nice little trap seal. The fuuin version of a proximity mine. As soon as an enemy gets close it explodes. WIll be fun to use in the ninja world.

Kay for the next two. The first one was use to contain sasuke by the sound 4. The second was seen used by shikamaru against Kakuzu.


( Shikoku Mujin ) - Four Black Fog Battle Formation

1. I mean if you can get an opponent in a container, it would be pretty funny. But it's basically a binding that requires the containing to stay intact. Then again it only lasts for one turn. It let Sasuke travel with the sound four while he survived the CM level 2 transformation.

2. I thought the second one is the sealing technique Jiraiya used in the corridor when he sealed Amatersasu? It seems to work the same either way.

Description: This is a special "ninja tool summon" that allows the user to seal basic ninja tools, like shurikens, kunais, swords, etc into sealing marks placed on their clothes or their body. The ninja tools can be summoned in an instant just by touching the sealing "marks". The greatest advantage of this technique is that the time between taking out a ninja tool, taking the right stance and actually throwing it is greatly reduced and one can unleash a barrage of weapons with great speed in a small time window. Also when a weapon such as a Fūma Shuriken is summoned, the time needed to throw it can be further shortened by having prepared the weapon in fully extended form beforehand. Sasuke even shown that you can have the weapons connected to wires and linked to their sealing marks and used the technique in sealing marks he placed in his wrist bracers.
Note: Can summon up to 30 basic tools per sealing mark and can have up to 2 sealing marks.
