As for a world vote, I
doubt Sasuke is much more
popular there.(Bee's attempted kidnapping,
association with Akutsuki
and attack on the Kages come
across as serious
misdemeanors and I doubt
Sasuke can explain himself on any of these counts.)
Actually, that is just one part
of the entire thing. And the
Konoha people are not reading
the manga like us. In their
eyes, Sasuke is still a traitor
and murderer. And even if he helps the Alliance win this
war, this won't change much.
Knowing his and Itachi's
history won't change their
perspective of him. And given
a far better and more suitable candidate is available in
Naruto, why would they
choose him. And as for
Naruto's forcing his opinion on
the people, we saw how that
worked out for Hashirama. And actually, almost all the
Uchihas wanted Hashirama as
Hokage, not Madara. Tobi
stated that Madara was
greatly hated among his own
people and that was one of the main reasons why he left
the village. Given the title of hokage is
given by the Konoha
inhabitants only, Hashirama
had to respect the wishes of
all the clans there. once they
here his side of story they are going to be sympathetic
towards him. They are going
to say "wow, if he can put all
that hatred aside, we seem
kind of stupid if we don't
too". Hashirama didn't force his opinion on anyone though,
they simply elected him. The
ideas that people wanted
were actually originally
Madara's, not Hashirama's if
you remember correctly. And we plainly saw why Madara
let, because he feared what
Tobirama would do as
Hokage, and was pissed none
of his clan believed in him any
longer (when they should have).
