Itachi had no choice but to blind those Rinnegan summon's field of vision because Susanoo would have gotten absorbed otherwise.

Madara could probably use Preta Path to such a high level, he could even absorb Shinsusenju.

Technically the Yata mirror would make the preta path useless. It can protect the user against any attack by changing it's characteristics. Seeing how it's a weapon that can be found and equipped (hence why Oro was looking for it) it cannot be absorbed. I'm no Itachi fanboy but this is just as far as the preta path goes.

Chakra is created from physical and spiritual energy. Taking a look back at Obito's description of the functions of Yin and Yang elements, and how the Uchiha clan are connected to them, it is safe to assume Preta Path might not have the capability to absorb Susanoo.

Susanoo is merely a Yin elemental technique, created into a form of physical body manipulated by the will of the user's Chakra. Yin creates something out of nothing, but without its counterpart Yang, it cannot brought to life. Going by this, Susanoo doesn't have life.

It's shown when Naruto proceeds to attack Nagato via his Rasengan, Nagato couldn't absorb the Yang Chakra of KCM. From that, we can deduct Preta Path cannot absorb Yin and Yang. Therefore, it cannot absorb Susanoo.

I don't think he could absorb Shinsuusenju. It isn't chakra based. It is actual living wood. That's why Hashirama was so famed. Because he could make life. Madara couldn't even absorb the wood dragon, and the wood dragon nullified Preta Path. I agree with Susano'o though. Of course, Yata means Itachi's won't get absorbed.

But Nagato was not the original user. In fact, he doesn't even have Uchiha DNA, making him only half suitable. He clearly was using a very miniscule fraction of the Rinnegan's true power.

Well in that case we need to see how madara uses preta path in the upcoming chapters.

As of now though preta is slow at absorbing jutsus, yes it makes the user impervious to chakra based attacks but such a massive source of chakra would definitely take longer than usual.
