I can answer this! The reason only certain colours are in use is to create a system of order. The reason premiums all have the same glow colour is to prevent confusion by new and even not so new members who would undoubtedly freak out if they saw a rainbow of glow colours. Also, from a design standpoint from what I remember is that it looks a bit tacky when there are so many variations of colours and the Admins don't want that. It's either all the premiums have the same colour, or no colour at all... At least that is my understanding. Back when it first came out, there was only yellow glow and a star and then the old premiums wanted no star; then some wanted no glow, then some wanted purple instead of yellow, then some wanted more symbols than just the star, and well now here we are... It's already a little bit discombobulated already but I do understand the desire for a different colour. Maybe we can get the colour changed once more as a whole and have it change once a year or something.

Btw, there is a premium questions and suggestions for these types of threads... And you can link Zise & Lawliet to it if you think they won't or haven't seen it, donutbayo.

Actually, I just realized that this part shouldn't be too much of an issue these days, as it appears majority if "new members" nowadays are just alts, or make all of like 2 posts. :sdo: But what you said can still hold true.

We even asked for custom rep bar colors and I think they still ignored or have a BS answer

For colored names and the possibility to choose the names, we have never wanted to add this because there simply aren't that many colors that aren't taken by other usergroups, to have red glows and blue glows and so on will confuse newer members, and also some people will attempt to troll that they are staff members.

Then you may wonder, how I know this.. well we have tried it by letting users set their own color in the past and they really did fail the test. However, we might give it a second try since it's been asked for several times.

About reputation bars and it's color, I have been discussing with V that we might redesign the technical aspects of it a bit, and add different colors too it as well that can be selected. However since the reputation is builtin to vBulletin from the beginning and not a plugin, it's a bit of a harder project that will take more time than just a few clicks.

Centered usernames, the reason why we don't do that is because it would look ridiculous if some people have centered usernames and some don't. And to make a whole new template just for centered usernames is equally ridiculous. However, there is plugins for your browser to change this for yourself if it bugs you very much, just get a css editing plugin where you can save your settings for websites to override the stylesheet and you will seeing yours and everyone elses username centered.
