In 2009, a special was released based on Kakashi's past (about how he got the sharingan)
The special was animated then.
And now, in anime, on 6th February, 2013, we'll be getting a new special episode based on Anbu Kakashi's life.

But since this is a special episode(s), we might get some manga chapters on Anbu Kakashi from Kishimoto himself. He might have drew out those chapters already.
Also there must be a reason for the anime to release it at this point as well as Kishi making it at this point (my prediction)
Kakashi might be dying at the start of the new year in the Manga and hence Kishi might put those chapters in the on-going month December + January, when kakashi is close to his death and thus he remembers his days as an Anbu.

Kakashi Gaiden (Manga version) was released at the end of part 1 and then the Shippuden part was shown (meaning after the time skip)
Kakashi Gaiden was serialized and released in Naruto Shippuden anime at episode no. 119-120.

But this time, they might be planning on releasing the Manga and anime version with a little gap of few weeks.

Madara is looking for his eyes which resides in Obito's left eye. Kakashi is a friend of Obito and hence there will be a clash between these trio. Either Madara kills Kakashi OR Zetsu/Obito kills Kakashi. Minato witnessing the death of Kakashi might create a platform for the flashback of Anbu Kakashi. But I believe more on Kakashi reminiscing his days as Anbu before he dies.

I think Kakashi is the right one to die. He endured too long, and he is an excellent shinobi.

He probably will die imagine if Kakashi went with Naruto over to Madara he could just 1 shot him seeing as Madara can't see anything. Kakashi has to go.

BTW, Madara might/can sense the chakra build up in Kakashi's MS if Kakashi tried to Kamui Madara.

Won't it just be to connect to the chapters where Kakashi kills Rin? Has Kishi confirmed anywhere that he has anything to do with these episodes? If not, I just think it's (good) filler by Studio Pierrot.

But Kakashi wasn't in Anbu when he killed Rin.

Kakashi's death would be plot driven (if it happens). I'm not ASKING for Naruto to die--I'd just be able to live with it if he did.
