1. Toneri in trailer reveals that they waited 1000 years then mention Sage of six paths.
I believe he meant as long as Hagoromo didnt leave to pure world they could not act due to fear of hagoromo mighty and power oer they were forbidden to act by Hamura who believed people would use ninshu made by his brother but after watching it is impossible he allowed them. I believe it has more connection to Hagoromo.
2. Toneri want to destroy humankind by using chakra as weapon
Hyuuga original purpouse was to destroy/ shut down the chakra. It possible that he kidnapped Hinata and Hanabi to make ritual to find way to destroy chakra in humankind. Something like gentle fist on global scale
3. Otsutsuki along with Toneri were shown fighting using some kind of energy.
Either Hagoromo or Kaguya spread chakra among their clan before sge lost to her lust of power/chakra.
4. Toneri is strong but it looks like Naruto alone will fighr him with support of friends but without Sasuke.
I estimate Toneri to be at Yang pre host Hagoromo/ Yin Hamura. It is the same level at which Rsm Naruto could be.
5. Toneri seems to be backed up by Otsutsuki clan
It is highly possible that Kaguya built up her army to concquer and force to obey whole ootsutsuki clan who considered Kaguya as enemy si ce she wanted to fet chakra vack frpm them as well. KAGUYA AS powerfull as she was coul not take on whole ootsutsuki clan.
I skipped love plot for sake of other interesting points of plot in regard to Ootsutsuki clan.
