He doesn't have Rinnegan, doesn't mean Kishimoto has been making so many references to him through Naruto.

Naruto and Hashirama need Sharingan to acquire Rinnegan. Neither have it, but Sasuke's eyes are in Tobi's hideout, Sasuke can give Naruto them. Hashirama is dead and wouldn't benefit from them.

I am only passing on information from the series, Naruto has been building up to this moment, even the 10 tails took notice when Naruto had the spirits of the tailed beasts resonate in him. That is enough make you think that Naruto will be some sort of new Sage, even if he doesn't surpass the So6p.

naruto will be the sage of six path, i admit that hashirama is the rival of madara and seeing madara's power we can think of how strong is hasirama. But Hashirama don't posses the power of the Tail beast; naruto does, naruto have received from all tail beast an among of chakra. Making him a sort of small rikudo for now, the ten tail, the tail beast even obito and madara sense it. The 1 hokage ( the first hokage ) is long dead and is a hokage of kohoha he's will is to protect the hidden leaves after helping defeating madara i don't think that he will stay, remeber that he is no longer under orochimaru jutsu control the edo tensei he move on his own will. He will do what is necessary to protect the future of thr village, and even i think will ask to make of them the four past kage an emergency jutsu just in case
