Well, I'm not gonna use Tobi, but rather 'The Masked Man' instead.
He uses 3 types of mask: white mask, orange swirl mask and the current mask.
The person wearing the white mask was Uchiha Madara.
What he did:
- Gave the Rinnegan to Nagato (this is proven when Madara unleashed his Rinnegan while fighting with the 5 Kages and this shows he really has them)
- Fought Minato @ Konoha 16 years ago (since he is not Obito, Minato did not recognize his chakra)
- Manipulated the Forth Mizukage
- Became the mastermind of Akatsuki
The person wearing the orange swirl mask and the current mask is Uchiha Obito.
- Somehow survived @ Kannabi Bridge (probably saved by Madara and Zetsu)
- Possibly trained by Madara...
- Knows that Rin had died
- Became even more powerful
- Madara died and Obito took over his place as the Masked Man
- Joined the Akatsuki and paired with Deidara
- .......... till current.
These are just my predictions and I hope everyone shall not have a fixed theory, stating that "tobi = obito, go and read the manga!" or "i think tobi = izuna" or whatever. Lets wait for Kisshi to fully explain one and every mystery in the next few chapters. We shall enjoy the story till the end!
