Powers, who gets them and where from. Why such a problem?

Something that i've seen around the Base a lot is the disregard or downgrading of a character simply because their powers are not theirs. This falls under the following categories:

Powers attained through the following:

- genetic inheritance
- training
- simply handed to someone
- copying powers
- stealing powers

Now I know it's good to have a bit of originality but am I right in saying that some people act as if every character must have obtained their powers completely by themselves to get any credit whatsoever? Fans trying to one up over another character because their powers come from somewhere and aren't originally theirs etc...why does it matter? When comparing the strength of two shinobi in a vs thread, I want feats and some manga evidence. I couldn't care less where those feats are from.

Consider if we went through the entire process of each character learning new techniques through training. Hell, sometimes you need a few inherited things and a bit of shortcutting or else we'd be waiting around for ever. One shinobi trains hard and gets techniques, another shinobi gets just as powerful by being given techniques or stealing them. All that matters is the end product surely?

Another way to look at it possibly - characters should surely get credit for taking foreign powers, yet having the skill and talent to master them and make it their own? Isn't that a testament to how much skill they have? Or am I wrong? Is it completely necessary that everyone trains for their own powers and makes their own justu? Or is it just used as a petty argument to try and get one over someone else's favorite character?

Thoughts? :)

I agree my friend, if they stole it, obtained it later, or were simply born with it, it is theirs.

Naruto made his Rasangan his own and it is his since his father died. He inherited it.

If someone gives you a ollar it's your's, if someone gives you a ball it's yours, but according to many haters if someone gives you a jutsu it's not yours and you're cheap and have an unfair advantage. By that logic all kekkei genkai and ninja arts passed down through families would be unfair...Some people just like to whine to have excuses for their character in an arguement.
