There have been a couple of powerups and potential powerups for certain characters (2 in particular) that people have been hating on and saying that they came out of nowhere or wouldn't make sense. I am now going to tell you why they do make sense.
1. Minato's KCM/BM.
I have seen many people say that this was just a random power-up for Minato. However, we already knew that Minato had sealed Kurama's yin half inside of himself with the reaper death seal. Therefore it is a logical powerup. We just did not expect it. It would be illogical if he hadn't done sealed the half and he just came back and randomly used the cloak. If you think the powerup is illogical because Minato would have had no time to train with the power of the yin half while being dead, think again.
For starters, Minato was said to be really good with seals because Kushina taught him, so at the time of his death it would have been easy for him to set up a sealed area inside of himself where Kurama's chakara resides (like that area that Naruto got after beating Kurama). Even if that didn't happen, you have to remember that it was said that the sealer and the sealed victim are locked in constant combat inside of the death reaper's stomach. If that is true and Minato was in combat with Kurama, then Minato could have defeated Kurama and taken his chakara just like Naruto did. Finally, the yin half seemed nicer than the Yang half originally was, so Kurama could have simply let Minato use his chakara. With these facts and possibilities, it was very logical that Minato was able to use the cloak. Just because you don't expect something doesn't mean that it is illogical. Finally, the reader is not supposed to expect every single thing.
2. The possibility of Sasuke getting rinnegan.
People just seem to hate this one with every fiber of their beings. Before I get into this one, I should notify you that this one is technically more so of a theory based on a pattern I have seen in the manga, but it would explain why Sasuke getting the rinnegan (long before being an old man and maybe even some time soon) would make sense.
Those who hate the possibility of Sasuke getting the rinnegan hate it because Madara didn't get it until he was an old man on the verge of death. Rinnegan has shown an interesting pattern however. My theory is: The rinnegan awakens the second you (or potentially a loved one) is about to die or be killed in order to give you or that loved one a one time only "free save" so to speak (meaning that for one time only, your life will be saved without you or another person making a conscious effort to save you. The eyes themselves will save you. You must however, be taken by surprise by the thing that will kill you or simply know that you can not save yourself at that moment and are about to die.)
It has already been noted that the rinnegan basically saved Madara's life at the last second. If it was at the last second or two like Madara said it was, then clearly Madara would have expected that he was going to die at that moment. Suddenly, bam! The rinnegan awakened and allowed him to summon the gedou mazou, thus saving his life.
Furthermore, when Madara was revived in the war, he did not at first think that he'd have access to the rinnegan because of the fact that he was revived with his younger body. This fact is further supported when he asked Kabuto what he did to his (Madara's) body after reawakening rinnegan. Therefore Madras clearly did not know that he still had rinnegan. Having said that, it is clear that Madara was basically helpless when that rasenshuriken was hurtling toward him. He was sure that he was going to be defeated (which for an edo is the closest thing to being killed). Madara had just been pulled out of his susanoo by surprise, so he couldn't just resummon his susanoo around him in the blink of an eye. Even if he could, rasen shuriken could probably destroy that basic susanoo that he was using. Madara had to know that it was over! But then, bam! Once again rinnegan just suddenly awakens out of the blue (this time allowing Madara to use preta path) thus saving Madara's "life" ( or at least his edo life) once again! Was Madara in the form of an old man this time? No he wasn't!
As you can see, at both of these times, the rinnegan spontaneously awakened to save an unexpecting and endangered Madara. My theory is further supported by Tobirama's explanation of the sharingan and its evolution.
As we know, negative emotions power up the sharingan. For many people, when you know that you are about to die a painful death or if a life threatening situation takes you by surprise, you go into a last second state of mortal terror. That is a pretty negative emotion. Tobirama also stated that the sharingan powers up when an Uchiha loses a loved one or is about to lose a loved one. Unless you have very low self esteem and want to die, you will generally love yourself. Having said this, the instant surge of fear that you get at the moment you are about to die is surely enough emotion to make the brain release the chemical that will advance your EMS to rinnegan.
In addittion to this, the rinnegan is said to be beyond life and death. The word samsara (which is commonly mentioned when referring to the rinnegan) even means something about life and death. Therefore, it only makes sense that the rinnegan awakens in a life or death situation.
You may be saying to yourself "If this is true, then why did it take Madara so long to awaken the rinnegan, and why hasn't Sasuke awakened rinnegan since he's been in life or death situations against both Kabuto and Obito?" To answer that question, I must first remind you that you still do need senju DNA to awaken the rinnegan regardless of any life or death situations you get into. You also do need EMS (because the eyes do increase in energy as they power up. The rinnegan has the highest amount of energy, so the energy of a normal MS wouldn't be enough to make the eyes jump to rinnegan despite life or death situations. This answers why Obito did not awaken his own rinnegan.). Having said this, Sasuke simply does not have Senju DNA. As for Madara, he did not acquire his Senju DNA until after his final battle with Hashirama at the valley of end (he got the DNA itself during the battle, but he did not inject it into himself until after the battle). Since Madara was thought to have died after the valley of end, it is implied that Madara didn't have any more fights after the valley of end. Therefore, he wouldn't have ever had any more life threatening situations after that battle until the moment of his natural death. Even if he did have more fights, it has been stated that nobody besides Hashirama could match Madara, so these fights still wouldn't have been life threatening to Madara. This is why it took so long to awaken rinnegan. It has nothing to do with age.
That is my theory.
How does this explain why Sasuke getting the rinnegan makes sense, you ask? Well as I just said, Madara didn't have any more life threatening situations until the end of his natural life, but Sasuke is still young and will continue fighting. If he gets some Senju DNA and continues fighting, he will likely run into a life threatening situation that gives him his "free save" (meaning the rinnegan). This is why Sasuke getting the rinnegan before being an old man makes sense and has possibility. Remember that this was just a theory, so don't get mad. Share your thoughts.
P.S. I prefer Naruto over Sasuke, so I am not a Sasuke fanboy that is just trying to power up Sasuke.
