[Discussion] Power ups birthrights, earned and given

On NB I hear a lot that either Naruto or Sasuke were given power, or that they earned some ability while the other didnt. So I pretty much just wanna put in my two cents to this argument.

Sasuke

Sharingan-birthright (simple)
CM-given and lost
MS-earned-he fought Itachi and passed Itachi's test. Even if you want to say Itachi went easy on him, Sasuke still trained hard, and sacrificed a lot, tried his hardest to kill Itachi and in the end it was revealed that the person he finally killed was the person that loved him the most in the world.

If that doesn't count as earning it no Uchiha has earned MS.

EMS-given, but a by product of his struggle that gave him MS.

Naruto

Large chakra pool and great stamina-birth right

(Kyuubi chakra-given (has to ask for it, I really wanted to call this his birthright seeing how it was placed upon him when he was born, but if I am gonna be brutally honest, it was a gift)
1 Tail Cloak-given no working or training required
2-4 Tailed Cloak-serious given, Naruto literally has to ask the Kyuubi for help or let it fight for him (any one who thinks its not because Naruto had to train to get that high would have to take off CM for Sasuke because he had to train to become proficient in CM) ) this all can be combined into one big whole given if you want, depends on how u prefer to see it.

SM-earned
KCM-earned
BM-given, but a byproduct of his struggle that gave him KCM

Now, tbh I couldn't care less about who has given stolen or whatever kinds of powers. Pretty much all of their jutsu are byproducts of their hard work as well, (except Amaterasu)Both characters have had their struggles, and made sacrifices in order to get to where they are now, not to mention both of their final power up will be spoon fed, but it doesnt make it any less enjoyable.

He fought so you cant say it was completely given....assisted maybe? Still it kinda fits with the story. Naruto will only gets to where he does @ EoS thanks to everyone's assistance

thats not fair to say as naruto still did the majrity of the work, so it was in no way given as he still had to actively take it. EMS is just hay my brother died and my eyes are no longer any good so imma just put his in my head. had it not been for the fact that itachi wanted sasuke to win and he was gonna die anyways i wouldn' really hold it against him, but unfortunately those things happened so i hold it against him.

You're right. I honestly can't care less about where the powers come from. As long as they are the one's using it - it's their power. They can steal it if they want. All is fair in love and war

if kcm is going to be viewed as "assisted" then ms should be "assisted" as well...not ems (that's still a given) itachi could have easily killed sasuke with susanoo at the beginning of the fight...he assisted sasuke in his ms awakening. and it was quite the convincing assist.

i hate that this thread even needs posted. I agree with the author BTW. Everybody in this manga has been gifted something except maybe Lee. but why the heck does it matter. it has been a theme from the beginning, its called Kekkai Genkai. you are born with something that you didn't earn. it applies to the "gifts" as well. At least if they get given something they can use it. this manga has always been about teamwork and helping each other. It is called a theme. What kinda manga would it be if they didn't abide by that theme. These 'gifts" have always been about teamwork and usually derive from two people working together to make someone better by complmenting their skills.

Let's look at all the times Sasuke has been fodder:
1)Against Itachi (the very first time)
2)Against Bee (Entire team taka had to intervene)
3)Against A (Gaara had to save him)
4)Against Mei (Would have died without Zetsu)
5)Against Ohnoki (Would have died without tobi)
6)Against Madara (This wasn't even a fight, just an embarrassing @ss whooping)

SO don't talk shit about Naruto when Sasuke has consistently needed his @ss saved throughout the series.

This entire borrowed borrow debate became meaningless when we learned that all chakra was stolen from the Shinju, and Rikudo, the greatest man of all time and his mother were the biggest thieves of all time. Naruto is merely following in his footsteps. As for Sasuke, you can't earn your body parts, but they aren't given to you either, so for that, I'd say sharingan is neutral. EMS is exactly like Bijuumode. Given without either one doing jack to actually earn it.
