That's why there are so many Naruto fans. (for example! This is not meant to bash any fans) They're like: "OMG look what big explosions he can make!"
Power is not the most important thing to me, for me it's personality. Followed by appereance, backstory and then power.

You don't even know what you're talking about. The majority of us love his character/story. His power is just a plus.

I suppose it allows people to live out their power fantasies through imagining their favorite characters, which is fine.

For me though, not just for this series but in general, I really don't even like using the word "badass" when talking about my favorite characters. Even if it could reasonably be applied. I prefer affectionately calling my favorite characters a bunch of losers.

I have never liked Sasuke for his power-ups. He could end up as the weakest character in the manga, and he'll still at the top of my most liked characters list.

Its still heavy packed with distinct action and many fights. That's certainly more than enough for many readers/viewer who only care about those aspects to be hooked.
I don't think the dialogue is that abundant or complex for action lovers not to be able to handle it. Part of it is also related with combat and such which certainly makes it more bearable for those.

Why do some people think power is what makes 80% of a character's personality?

I noticed that the majority of NB like the strongest characters for almost no reason at all except for power or that person beats a certain character they have never liked in the series.

Why is this so?

Naruto has been my fav since i first seen the anime. Part 1 Naruto always rocked, his speeches and guts to never give up truly inspired me.
