Some if not most were born into it or come from poor families. I find that it is usually the rich who come from privileged backgrounds that have something bad to say about poor people. That's just my opinion on it.

Maybe during the founding of this nation but not as much so currently. Most wealthy families in this country are descendant from already wealthy families. It also depends how far up the scale before we call it wealthy. There's wealthy, comfortable, struggling and poverty. A lot of people born into the poverty level can and do reach to the comfortable level which to them probably seems wealthy but they rarely actually make it to the wealthy level.

In theory one can financially do well for oneself if one works hard. However, this isn't always the case, and even when it is, they can still become poor. Let's say someone worked really hard to build a business, (so they could be from whatever background), they have event themself money for a decent house and lifestyle. But if something happens, let's say there country's bank was attacked and there currency's value completely dropped, they could easily end up on the street, regardless of there hard work or original background

First, one has to define what it means to be in "poverty."

Generally, when I think of poverty, I think of people who are continually unable to meet financial obligations and who are in generally undesirable living conditions.

I've seen people who live in areas of low property values keep a clean house, work a very modest job, and meet their financial obligations. They may have to be strict in their spending, but they are not 'struggling.'

On the other hand, it is the general case that when I see people who are of poor living conditions, it is often self-inflicted. They make poor lifestyle decisions that result in a deterioration of their domicile. Generally, these lifestyle decisions also translate to poor financial performance. They take on debts they cannot meet and make expenditures that they cannot afford.

That isn't to say that all poverty is a result of stupidity...

But that stupidity will generally result in poverty.

I think its difficult for people who come from a rich background to understand someone from a poor family and vise versa.

One of my friends family is quite rich their parents throw around money quite often and he finds it hard to see why there are poor people when all they have to do is work hard.

And that is somewhat true when in a difficult situation you must work hard. But you have to have the right mind set. When you grow up with a poor family all your uncles and aunts and other relatives barely have anything its hard to believe that you will make it in like.

Not only must you make the right choices in life but also develop the right state of mind to truly believe that you can succeed.

And even then things come up in life that will hold you back love, family, death ect. Its hard to plan for those things and hard to throw those thing away for your own personal benefit.

It is kind of natural selection but there are also other factors. Some class of people are privileged and some are systematically oppressed.

My parents were not smart, they did not made good use of resources and connections and they stayed poor and still made kids, that made me poor and the this poverty makes me a guy with a potential to create another poor family and stay poor coz I am currently in a state of not able to afford higher education that could get me job nor smart enough to earn through merits. The situation itself was due to my stupidity and poor decisions.
Some classes of people are denied opportunities. Some have advantages like if your great great grandfather had huge land or you are from a royal family or just your ancestors are rich,money makes more money so you will probably be rich whether you are smart or retard.
War torn places and poor countries stay poor because lack or limited number of opportunities. So even if they are smart they cant prosper.

1-sometimes i think Poverty is a must...it's like a race....just like how its impossible for all runners to win the 1st place...its impossible for all families to be rich....there has to be poor and richs..
