I don't know whether there's even any rules about it; There are no specific ones as far as I can see unless it goes under SPAM. The issue being people posting threads in the wrong section on purpose for attention(Most of the time I daresay), particularly posting an obvious chatterbox-esque thread in the GD section, something I've addressed before.

My issue lies in how people seem to do this seemingly without a care, resulting in a bunch of threads being where they shouldn't, making the browsing of the forums that much more annoying. There are a lot of good GD-esque threads where they belong, but sometimes I lose interest in even browsing the GD section seeing these other threads, and I bet the GD isn't the only forum with this issue.

So, as I mentioned: I don't know whether there's any specific rules against it, maybe it isn't all that important in the end, but I'd like to suggest some action against it, whether it be warnings or whatnot.
Yeah, I've given up on trying to re-introduce the threads in the chatterbox showing at the home page, but won't you at least introduce some strictness to this issue?

Re: People posting in the wrong section.

Was there a need for 2 threads?

Whom? The mods or the people making up the cause of this? I'm sure the latter doesn't care at least!

@villain55; check the other thread, I already notified a mod. Sorry for the trouble.

I think both, Although they do put the threads in the proper place They don't really go out of their way to check if it's in the right spot, if you know what I mean.

I suppose they might rely a lot on the reports(the mods) in and of themselves, but it's trouble spared(to some degree at least), I believe, to make it a bit stricter. I know I could report at least two threads a day!

I agree with what you're saying. It's rather annoying and serves no purpose other than to garner attention.

Very much so it seems. Problem is whether it's something to be dealt with or left alone.

Btw, thanks to whomever removed the other thread~

Threads in the wrong section are pretty much considered spam and there have been people warned/infracted or even banned if they were fully aware of what they were doing, but simply decided to ignore the warnings. But you need to take into consideration that there are also a lot of people who simply made mistakes, even if it's often very obvious a thread shouldn't be there.

I can't even set one foot into the GD or ND section without seeing threads that are not supposed to be there and I go daily in those sections just to move/trash them. The amount of threads I personally move each week could sometimes even pass the 100 (and then I'm not even counting the ones other mods move). If I need to start punishing all those people, not only am I wasting a lot of time, then they are all going to complain about 'how strict we are' and 'that we could have just moved them to the correct section'.

So these days we just or move the thread to the correct section or we just trash them. Most Naruto VS threads that are not posted in the VS Colosseum for instance, get trashed.

I don't think there is really much we can do other than just punishing every single one, in which case I sincerely doubt much of those people will show any kind of understanding.

to be frank I think they just don't care.

So the amount of threads we move/trash daily, of which you have no clue, are our way to show we don't care? Averagely our trash section gets 1-2 new pages each day.

Hmm... So it is spam. I can understand the difficulty of it, both in determining whether they knew or not, as well as for being too strict about it.

Why not introduce a sort of time limit for how long one is to be allowed to make the mistake(be it one or not)? For example, people having been members for at least a certain amount of time won't get any pardon as they're expected to have learned the ways of the forum by then. I mean, when registering, one would assume they've read the rules and if they haven't, they can't really blame anyone for being strict or in the wrong without being hypocrites(or lazy), be the judgment right on your part. Also, if posting in the wrong section isn't really explicitly explained, you could add that as a rule, no? Giving some respite for people to read and adapt to such a rule.
Regarding the punishment, it could be light: first a warning or two, then an infraction or something. I'm not sure about here, but as it isn't anything as serious as bullying etc., it could be light, creating leeway for understanding/adapting.
As for the understanding, I believe the logic speaks for itself: You're meant to follow the rules of the forum, meaning reading them would be a good idea, which would also provide the foundation for understanding in cases of warnings or infractions. Anyway, I don't think you''ll have to tell everyone twice or trice, they'll understand and you'll be needing to put less effort into this matter.
Think that about covers it, is it feasible or too much work for what it's worth?

Oh, as for those whom just ignore it even still. Well, you have removed the register function. It should prove to be somewhat effective.
