Possible Tailed Beast Heritage Plot Twist?

I was just thinking, what if the 9 tailed beasts coming from the 10 tales is bull crap. What if they derived from the Sage of Six Paths power instead? It could be possible that the tailed beasts (1-9) hold a key to the 10 tails power (that the sage put in for his own reasons), but ultimately are derived from the Sage himself. The Sage could have just lied to the tailed beasts about them coming from the 10 tails. I want to see what people think =D . I personally would love to see this be true

I put in my theory that they hold possible keys, maybe as a cautionary step so that the juubi couldn't be revived through just large amount of chakra means. Maybe he didn't think they could all be captured by a shinobi.
