In the beginning when the Senju and the Uchiha created a truce between the feuding clans and created Konoha, they came across one major flaw: Their government only had one seat, but two potential rulers. They both created Konoha, so why couldn't they rule side-by-side? This lead to fighting, discrimination towards certain clans, and eventually the Uchiha's near-coup-de-etat and the eradication of aforementioned clan.
If they had ruled as equals, Madara would not have felt the discrimination of being refused for the place of power or the oppression of his former friend's rule and never would have left Konoha. Then it would not have lead to the Uchiha feeling discriminated against in their home village and planning a coup-de-etat in retaliation. And so on, and so forth.
But with the newest chapter, it is revealed that Sasuke and Naruto both want to become Hokage. I believe that, instead of them coming to blows over the seat of power, they will amend the mistakes of their predecessors and rule together, thereby negating the follies of their previous leaders and repairing their friendship.
Anyone else think so or otherwise? I'd love to know!
