First off, I'll confess. I'm a Minato fanboy, and this thread is bound to be tilted a bit towards Minato's favour. In all honesty, I've tried my best not to be partial..but, as I've mentioned, being a fanboy has its share of problems and I can't seem to help but feel that my arguments somehow seem to be a bit in favour ofMinato. But, I'm continuing with this thread nonetheless.
The attact Tobirama used on Izuna can only be used in one of three possible ways using FTG tech.
Scenario 1: . One is, if Tobirama already had an FTG seal on Izuna, and he used it to slash through Izuna with his sword, the attack being traceless, that even an MS user couldn't follow it. However, this is very unlikely, seeing that Tobirama could only teleport directly to the seal, which obviously should have been placed somewhere on Izuna's body, most likely his chest itself. This possibility may seem to fit in completely, although, if you look close, the momentum of the follow through should have been much lesser, personally, I think if that was the case, the momentum would have been zero. But, it wasn't and that throws the possibility out of the window.
Scenario 2: The next way is, if the sword Tobirama used had a seal, similar to the one on FTG-kunai and Tobirama threw the sword forward while running towards Izuna, much like how Minato threw his kunai towards Obito during the invasion, the teleported to it, thereby adding the momentum the the throw along with the momentum of the already running Tobirama. This too, is however, full of flaws. Because, if that were the case, the then Tobirama could not have held the sword with both hands, like he did in the manga. Also, that he couldn't have been possible, since holding the sword by teleporting into it will take the momentum of the sword had moving through the air off. Especially if he holds it with both hands. There would have been a moment of halt, when he takes hold of the sword, and Izuna with sharingan can easily react and move out of the way.
Scenario 3: Tobirama had been running towards Izuna intending to slash through him from a distance, when he suddenly decides to just FTG to the seal he had on Izuna's body, surprising Izuna and the moment of FTG being untracable, catches him offguard and goes through him, which also proves why Izuna was like WTF when it happened. Now this, is very likely. Nonetheless, being the Minato fan I am, I say this is not, because, if Tobirama could do something like that, then he would have been known the fastest shinobi and not Minato. I also feel like I should give some logical proof on why this scenario couldn't be right. However, I have to trust my instincts on this one when I say it didn't use FTG tech.
Now, what was that attack, if it wasn't one that used the techs of Minato's FTG. Surely, one can't just blitz through a MS user just like that...
The following scenarios deal with such possibilities.
Scenario 4: It was indeed a S/T ninjutsu, but just a different kind from FTG. It perhaps slowed down the time in a specific region for Tobirama's target, Izuna in this case. This, I believe, is plausible. Because, if time is slowed down for Tobirama's targets in the specific area, then it explains why Izuna was so stunned when Tobirama cut through him.
Scenario 5: FTG-slash was technique which changed the way its targets perceives time, an all familiar technique, for anime freaks.
Scenario 6: FTG-slash was just an extremely fast slash, perhaps performed with the aid of Body Flicker technique.(The point I'm trying to convey is, it didn;t use any S/T ninjutsu) If it was an extremely fast attack, on level of one from A, then its plausible that Izuna couldn't react. Even if he had MS, it didn't enhance capability to react to an attack of extreme speed afterall. However, seeing that Tobirama had a S/T ninjutsu, and the fourth having known about this S/T ninjutsu, its seems too much to be co-incidence.
Scenario 7: In narutopedia, it was stated that in the anime Tobirama used a sword called sword of the thunder god. I personally don't remember about this. (I have a bad habit of sometimes just completely skipping fillers) But, it is possible that the name Flying THUNDER GOD slash was a reference to an attack using Sword of Thunder god.
OMG! Reading this all over again, I guess I'm not favouring Minato, but Tobirama with this thread, or is it that I'm merely being logical? It feels like I've contradicted my own statements quite a lot.
Anyway, vote on which scenario you think is most likely to be correct. Please include the reason for your choice. Also, feel free to correct any mistake I could've made or point out any possibility I have missed.
Hope none of you feels the need to flame me for this.
