1) Technically Orochimaru or the body he was using if you prefer died (as a sacrifice to the Death God). How does it affect Edo Tensei? As you know when the summoner dies the contract is broken and the summons remain and probably regain their personalities.
Itachi vs Kabuto proved that it's the body that affects the jutsu as he forced Kabuto's body to do the hand seals required to release Edo Tensei
Does that mean that the Hokages are actually free?

2) If 1 is proven wrong.
In order for them to actually tell everything to Sasume the Hokages must not be in complete control, have their personalities. Then what can prevent them from getting rid of the "control" and break out of it.
Some will state that they can't and use Madara as an example as he did get rid of it when the jutsu was released but I'll like to point out that Kabuto was treating him like some kind of deity and he believed that this was part of Obito's plan.
I believe he could have done so at any point and that so does Tobirama and the Hokages if given possibility

For 1) I think it's the caster that should die for the Edos to become free. He is still alive, he just switched body (I know it sounds ridiculous but we are talking about Orochimaru here )

As for 2) well I guess this gets answered by 4 words :
"You are inside my genjutsu"

Oro's actual body is no more that outer shell but his snake form.......at least that's what i think.....and whenever that snake enters a new host, that host's body eventually modifies into the initial human appearance of orochimaru.....so i think that he will retain his control on edo bodies....but yes, i can be wrong...maybe the revived kages are actually free.....oro however can control their movements without changing their personalities(just like how kabuto controlled edo itachi and edo nagato against naruto and bee, itachi clearly retained his personality at that time even before kotoamatsukami was cast on him).......so keeping the hokages static in one place oro can make them talk anything they want to and answer sasuke's questions....

If the edo bodies are not in mindless mode and the user gives them freedom temporarily then that should be the moment when the edo bodies should do the necessary hand signs and become free........madara didn't expect that edo tensei would actually be released and that's why luckily he was quick enough to do what's necessary to remain in the mortal world......
