Although they are not blood related, Ace looked remarkably like his foster brother, Luffy. However, Ace is more serious looking than Luffy's lighthearted design, and is also slightly taller and more muscular. He also sports rather childish freckles, and tends to make an incredulous facial expression by raising his left eyebrow. Interestingly, his facial features are almost akin to his biological father Gol D. Raggy pooh in his youth without his mustache. Ace's tattoos are among his most remarkable, trademark features. He has a tattoo on his back of the Whitebeard symbol — purple bones formed in a cross behind a purple skull with a white mustache — that he describes as his pride and joy, it symbolizes his freedom to do as he pleases, despite what others, even superiors, tell him to do. Ace has another tattoo on his upper left bicep that spells "ASCE" vertically with the "S" crossed out.*
Ace wore an open-front shirt until he received Whitebeard's tattoo - afterwards, he stopped wearing anything over his upper body except in the winter, and even then only when it is particularly cold. He wears black boots, black knee-length shorts with an eyelet-studded orange belt, and a blue pouch belted around his left leg. He also wears a short second belt with a large red "A" on the silver buckle over his right hip, but leaves it unfastened and threaded the free end along the back of his shorts. A dagger in a green sheath hung at his left hip. On Ace's left arm, he wears a Compass and a red and white striped bracelet around his wrist, an orange elbow guard, and his "ASCE" tattoo. He wears a red beaded necklace and an orange hat with two blue smileys, one frowning and one smiling, and a string of red beads sitting above the rim. Two long orange side straps hang down sides of his hat and meet at a large medallion of a bull's skull with orange tassels.
Personality:
Ace was much more intelligent, polite, and generally more bearable than Luffy, which prompt people o believe they aren't brothers at all. Aces personality is infact quite different from his fathers, which the great izuna himself says quite often. *It seems that among the very few things the brothers share was their recklessness as ninja (and their near-bottomless stomachs).*In addition, Ace liked to party as much as his brother does. When he boarded a random sailors ship, he was drawn by the smell of food and decided to enjoy himself while he was there.*
There are two running gags about Ace. The first is his rather extreme narcolepsy. He tends to randomly fall asleep while eating and conversing, leaving strangers around him wondering if he has died.*The second was that he did a "dine and dash" routine wherever he went. This went back to his younger days with Luffy, when they would often dine and dash in the city of Goa.*
His "politeness" is due to Rei's teaching after Ace asked her how to introduce himself to Goro (being his brother's savior). Before that, Ace was rather cold and rude to anyone he wasn't familiar with.
Ace has a tendency to never back down from a fight, saying that he would never run once facing an enemy. Because of this, some people believe that Ace had a death wish, but in truth he wanted to prevent people he cared for from getting hurt. Roku stated that he inherited this tendency from his father, Gol D. Raggy pooh, despite loathing him.*

Background Info.
History:
Ace's history dates back to before he was even born, going back to a time of piece in between the second and third great ninja wars. There was one criminal who everyone in the world hated, he disrupted the piece and unity that the nations had at the time, his name was Gold D. Raggy pooh. After the third ninja war finally ended the villages set out to capture Raggy pooh, leading the Search party was his arch rival, Roku D kiyoshi. When roku finally found Raggy pooh Raggy gave himself in, on condition that roku watch over his unborn child who he knew would be hunted down. At first roku was appalled by the idea but after Raggy pooh's execution he decided to honor his arch enemies request.
Roku scoured the nation and finally found raggy's lover, portgas D rogue, rogue managed to hold her baby for 20 months in order to lead people off of believing that her son was the son of the hated Raggy pooh, upon his birth she died. It's because of this ace took on the name 'Portgas.'
When ace got older Roku, who was one of the top ninja of kumogakure and couldn't watch him, handed ace over to a dear friend of his named grim(who was actually his brother but that's another story), although grim looked awfully like a woman yet he infact is a man, with a very large.....bicept.
After Being with grim for a few years roku appeared with his biological grandson, from his fathers side(from his mothers side luffy was a kaguya) kaguya D. Luffy. At first ace shunned luffy, but after luffy constantly followed him around ace grew o lime luffy, and together they declared themselves "brothers."
For years the two trained together in Taijutsu, and taught themselves some ninjutsu using scrolls, then on ace's 17th birthday he set put on his journey.
About a week after he left the care of grim he was ambushed by 3 rogue ninja, the leader stayed back while the two gimp ninja attacked ace, using his great skills in Taijutsu ace narrowly defeated them, however he took a stab in the arm, enraged the leader of the group charged ace with a kunai, the two brawled until ace's weapon was smacked away, just before his assailant could hit him with the kill blow two daggers shit through his chest, instantly after the man incinerated. *Ace stood there stunned as he looked up as his savior, then collapsed.
Ace awoke 3 days later late in the night to find his savior eating some roast deer, the man offered him some and hungrily ace devoured tree whole deer on his own. When he was finished the man, a little surprised at ace's appetite introduced himself as Ali, wielder of the kagutsuchi daggers and member of the hidden mist swordsmen, also known as the new sage of fire, after defeating elias. Ace instantly asked if kagutsuchi would train him in ninjutsu, reluctantly kagutsuchi agreed due to his liking of ace's skill in Taijutsu.
Ace traveled around with kagutsuchi for 6 months, quickly picking up on the fire element and mastering, on the last day of their training kagutsuchi declared he had to return to his village, however not without leaving ace a gift, he preformed a summoning jutsu and summoned up the hellfire sword, handing it to ace, "study it and learn the secret element it possesses." *Ace laughed at the horrible cheesiness of Ali's comment, and with a poof his beloved teacher was gone, ace traveled on his own for another month not able to figure out the blade in any way, shape or form. One day he was ambushed by a squad of ninja, led by the fearsome izuna uchiha, ace fought back relentlessly against the men but was overwhelmed, in a last attempt ace grabbed the hellfire blade and focused his fire chakra into it, all of a sudden the blade started heating up and hellfire spouted all around him, upon seeing this izuna jumped in, pulling out his blade,*Ame-No-Mi-Kumari - Goddess of Water, izuna conjured forth furious water sources in an attempt to put out the hellfire, ace rushed at izuna as the two clashed, izuna knocked the hellfire blade out of Ace's hand and slashed him across the torso, ace fell to the floor thinking he was dead.
Ace awoke suddenly in a dark cave to partying all around him, he slowly stood up, his wounds hurting as he went over to what seemed to be the leader ace was astonished to see it was izuna. Izuna explained he let ace live as a favor to an old friend, his teacher Ali, and he had decided to take ace under his wing, and teach him. Ace quickly blended in well with the crowd, meeting new friends such as Tomi, Kyle, Crutch, Riku, kaos and others. Ace trained with them, becoming great friends with Kyle right off the bat, Kyle helped him master wind and lightning, while tomi helped him with earth and izuna with water, as it was the hardest for ace being a fire specialist. The group defeated Many people while ave was there, he himself took down Nero, Xylon, *akiza, gatsndshanks, and many others. After being with the group for 2 years kaos Kyle and Riku decided to let ace In on their element, raging thunder. Due to raging thunders similarity to fire ace learned it quickly, afterward ace and kaos created 2 elements of their own, corundum and divine wind. With those 3 ace now had mastery over 4 unnatural elements, as he had long since mastered Hellfire.
After 3 years with the group ace was confronted by izuna, izuna told him of 2 things he wished ace to do, one was visit the eight inner gates masters and two was to seek out nexus, and learn his dark secrets. Ace agreed and set out on his mission, after 2 months of traveling, during which ace completed his own fire style techniques, the mera-mera jutsu, ace came across a dark cave with many traps, after making it all the way to the end ace came across nexus who said he would not train him, after ace explained his close relationship with rei, upon seeing a picture of nexus and her, who was a simple *bartender in the village neat grims hideout,*or so people thought, nexus agreed to teach him, nexus taught him fuuinjutsu, after 6 months of training ace finally mastered ninjutsu, he quickly left nexus' dark cave afterward.*
Ace then set out on his journey to find the eight inner gates masters, on his way he bumped into his younger brother luffy, who'd become quite the ninja and had completely mastered his kikkei genkei, together they sought out the masters, and on the 4 year anniversary of ace leaving they found them, amongst them were kagutsuchi, ace's old master and Goro kaguya, a member of luffy's mothers clan, and surprisingly enough grim too. The masters agreed to teach the two the gates, ace being more awesome than luffy () completed the gates in half a year, and was quickly inducted into the eight inner gates masters, after training in the great arts with fellow gates master Zenryoku, ace decided to leave the temple to go on another journey.
A few months after leaving ace came across a temple with the elements posted on it, as he walked through he saw the names of all the sages, sitting on a golden chair in all her beauty was rei, ace nearly flipped. Rei told him she'd heard of his triumphs and Decided to abduct him into the order of the sages, ace gladly and humbly accepted.On his journey ace came across a young female named liliana uchiha, the two brawled for a bit and ace decided he would take her under his wing. Ace trained liliana in the eight inner gates for a full year, teaching her some of his fire techniques as well, and when they weren't training the two throughly enjoyed each others company . After training for a year and a half liliana left to return to her village, giving ace a nice long French kiss before she did, and a slap on the butt.
Nowadays ace is a wondering ninja, fighting only from time to time, going here and there, he trained with the dark sage for a time, gaining knowledge of basic yin and yang techniques.

Taijutsu: Being a Taijutsu specialist, and master, ace has no problem predicting people's movements from their feet.
Booty call: Liliana has a nice ass.
Fitness: Being a taijutsu master, ace is in EXTREMELY good shape. All ninja are in good shape of course, but ace is considerably stronger and more flexible than the average ninja, able to stretch his body is extremely difficult ways.
Fire Affinity: Ace is one of, if not the strongest fire ninja, he can perform fire jutsu with relative ease, faster and stronger than the average ninja, and on almost any terrain, even in altitudes that for the average ninja it would be impossible to perform fire jutsu.
Earth Affinity: Ace is an extremely profound earth user too, he strategically uses earth jutsu to his advantage in fights, able to perform earth jutsu under B rank with one seal.
Willpower: Through training in Kaito's "Willpower of the heart" techniques, ace has an extremely great willpower, even when not on the brink of death ace can summon up extreme strength after being badly hurt.
