I will list how bernie sanders plans to fix income inequality vs how those policies have proven to work in reality
"Increasing the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour by 2020. In the year 2015, no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty".
Bernie says he plans to raise the minimum wage because no one who works 40 hours a week should be in poverty.
As thomas sowell proves above raising the minimum wage hurts young and unskilled workers by making those jobs viable options for older more skilled workers to come down and take.
He also mentions the effect on black teenage unemployment.
in 1949 black teenage unemployment was 9%(minimum wage was the equivalent of $4.04 an hour today)
Since the 1960's minimum wage has increased steadily as has black teenage unemployment. it was 27% in the 60's and hasn't been under 40 percent since the early 80's.
later on in bernie's platform he goes on to say this
"Creating 1 million jobs for disadvantaged young Americans by investing $5.5 billion in a youth jobs program. Today, the youth unemployment rate is off the charts. We have got to end this tragedy by making sure teenagers and young adults have the jobs they need to move up the economic ladder."
Does he not look at the effects of these policies? Or just incredibly ignorant and stubborn?
He wants to simultaneously hurt the youth of America but invest more tax payer dollars to fix a problem he is making worse. This is your genius savior?
"Fighting for pay equity by signing the Paycheck Fairness Act into law. It is an outrage that women earn just 78 cents for every dollar a man earns."
This has been proven false numerous times, now women get an unfair boost due to the careers they choose to pursue? I thought he was for equality, not anti male bias.
Americans are taxed at 40% now
He intends to add Free healthcare
"Guaranteeing healthcare as a right of citizenship by enacting a Medicare for all single-payer healthcare system. Itβs time for the U.S. to join every major industrialized country on earth and provide universal healthcare to all."
Free college
"Making tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout America. Everyone in this country who studies hard should be able to go to college regardless of income"
subsidized Pre-school
"Enacting a universal childcare and prekindergarten program. Every psychologist understands that the most formative years for a human being is from the ages 0-3. We have got to make sure every family in America has the opportunity to send their kids to a high quality childcare and pre-K program."
If you support bernie sanders what do you think is a reasonable percent that the american people should have taken from their checks to make all this happen? 40% from everyone isn't enough, and taking exponentially from the rich sounds good but is take out on the workers always. An example of this is when Obama mandated that all fast food employees that work over 30 hrs a week be given insurance. All that restaurants did was cut the workers back to 29 hrs. a week.
Biting the hand that feeds never works out well for the little guy
