Not even when its racist? Not when an entire race are being prosecuted just for being black?
If that's not reason enough to take it serious, then pardon me for putting too much hope in humanity.
No one said there is an epidemic of police brutality. But the facts show that blacks are being killed left and right at a very high rate every single year. One of the more disturbing facts is blacks are killed a lot more than any other race. And it's done so by the protectors we called "Police Officers".
Maybe you should pick on someone more intelligent than that kid you were talking to.
"According to the most recent census data, there are nearly 160 million more white people in America than there are black people. White people make up roughly 62 percent of the U.S. population but only about 49 percent of those who are killed by police officers. African Americans, however, account for 24 percent of those fatally shot and killed by the police despite being just 13 percent of the U.S. population."

Not sure if you were trying to help them with this information, but this blurb forgets to mention that the 13% of African Americans in the United States also disproportionately commit 28% of all crime. This obviously increases their likelihood of having hostile encounters with police officers. On top of that, African Americans have the radical disproportionate statistic of committing HALF of ALL homicides in the United States, despite making up only 13% of the population. Those are blatantly violent offenders who have increased likelihood of having hostile encounters with officers.

Police brutality could happen to anyone in the U.S.
Doesn't matter what race you are.

All it takes is running into a police officer who can't control his emotions (such as having a stressful week, thus letting his anger control his actions) and the next thing you know you're getting hit multiple times in the face or back.
