Pokemon sun and Moon.. gen 6.5 or gen 7

The new Pokemon titles has been revealed as Pokemon sun and moon. Do guys think this is a new gen or an extension to x and y? Also is it gonna be on the Nintendo NX as well?

I'd say gen 7. If it was an extension to X/Y, you'd think it'd be called Z, or some variation like that.
