Last Chapter:

Pewter

OST:

As Aaron sped through the Viridian Forest, defeating trainers left and right with his Houndour. After healing up at the Pewter Pokemon Center, he stood before the Gym Building, where his first gym challenge awaited.
…

OST:

“Okay Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip to pick up Sandshrew!”

Aaron gave his command rather loudly, his hand extended fully as if to use the attack himself. Bulbasaur acknowledged his trainers words, releasing two extensive natural vines from the bottom of its bulb. The speed of Bulbasaur’s attack was too much for the opposing trainer, whom was a year younger than Aaron. The foe’s Sandshrew was grabbed by the vines and thrown up into the air immediately. Aaron gave another command quickly, allowing no recovering time for the enemy.

“Alright Bulbasaur, finish it off with Magical Leaf!”

Bulbasaur almost smiled, taking stance and blurting, “Bulba!”

Bulbasaur released his attack, letting out several multicolored, crescent moon shaped leaves. They followed Sandrshew’s fall like guided missiles and struck the target rapidly. Sandrshew fell from the air, landing on its back with eyes shut. The screen on the side of the gym showed Aaron’s full picture and Pokemon with a large WINNER sign that slowly moved across the large television. Forrest, who had been standing on the side, smiled, happy to face a new challenger. He approached Aaron, and said in his childlike voice, “Hey! Are you ready to face the gym leader yet?”’
Aaron looked down on the boy and laughed, “BAHAHAHAHA! Of course I’m ready, where is he?”

Forrest’s face immediately turned a shade of deep red in anger. He shouted as loud as his voice could at Aaron.

“I AM, YOU MEANIE. My older brother, the former gym leader, left me in charge!”

Aaron, still smirking, replied, “Oooohhhhh that makes so much more sense! So, when do we start?”

Forrest seemed to calm down a little, allowing for him to think like a gym leader. He replied, “Whenever you want. How many gym badges do you have?”

Aaron responded quickly, “None.”

Forrest, walking over to the side wall, where a group of six pokeballs sat in a storage place, picked up three, carefully choosing them.

“Alright, this will be a one on one battle. Three Pokemon total, and the challenger can switch out. Choose wisely, and take your side opposite mine. We will begin when you’re ready.”

Aaron laughed again, realizing he only had two Pokemon total. The others he had caught were too weak, so he sent a Pidgey to stay home with his parents to accompany Pidgeotto and a Pikachu to send back to Professor Oak. Aaron had no interest in a weak electric type such as the Electric Mouse, as even its evolved-form wasn’t as good as a Magneton, Electabuzz, or Jolteon. Aaron would compare it to Zapdos, but nothing he knew could stand up to its electric power. Not to mention, Rock types were generally part Ground, so electric type attacks would do nothing. He picked out his first Pokeball, releasing its contents. Bulbasaur appeared ready for anything, a bit of confidence in its stance. It looked back, and nodded at its trainer, knowing the strategy that they had come up with for most battles.

“Alright, I’m going with Bulbasaur.”

Forrest smiled, realizing his soon demise. “Darn. I choose you, Kabuto!”

OST:

Aaron took out the Pokedex, which had already been completed by another trainer much much earlier. The Pokedex displayed a picture of Kabuto with text underneath, stating in a monotone voice, “Kabuto, the Ancient Pokémon. Though this Pokémon is now to be extinct, it had a hard shell that protected its body and is believed to have been a powerful swimmer.”

Aaron had no need to read the rest, already figuring out its type-disadvantages. He knows he has the battle in the bag, and decides to lead off with something very simple.

“Bulbasaur, slap it with Vine Whip.”

The monotone his voice produced was enough to display his overall confidence in his Bulbasaur’s ability to take out Kabuto with such an advantage. If his predictions were correct, Kabuto would fall in one hit to even the weakest of the Grass-type moves. His predictions had almost been proven, until Forrest reacted without hesitation.

“Kabuto, Harden and then use Scratch to cut the vines!”

Kabuto followed Forrest’s his orders to a tee, executing them with ease and precision. Kabuto’s sharp claws slashed through the vines like butter, severing the end buds with the rest. Bulbasaur cried in a bit of pain, having the vines be an extension of the body. Yes, they could grow back, but it took a week to do, and Bulbasaur felt pain every time they were cut.

Aaron noticed his Pokemon’s new inability to use vine whip, so he must rely on his one other attacking move: Magical Leaf. He raised his hand towards Bulbasaur, spurting out a command, “Now Bulbasaur, use Magical Leaf!”
Bulbasaur nodded in response, and started shaking its body to release the attack. The glowing leaves left the sides of Bulbasaur’s massive bulb, and shot at high speeds towards the stationary Kabuto. Forrest grinned a second, but held a solemn look in his eyes. He had never seen a move like this one before, and decided to do the only thing he could: dodge. Once the attack was upon his Pokemon, Forrest finally gave the order, “Now Kabuto, dodge it!”

Kabuto shifted to the side abruptly, pushing off of its feet that were located underneath. It moved to the left several inches, just enough to dodge the oncoming attack. The Magical Leaves missed, and Forrest grasped a couple seconds of joy.

Aaron smiled, “Tch.”

The leaves didn’t hit the ground, but rather pulled up and continued in the air. The attack then shifted its momentum toward Kabuto once more, hitting it square in the back. The Ancient Pokemon took the attack painfully, and cried out as it flipped onto its back. Kabuto had fainted, and declared Bulbasaur the winner of the skirmish. It wasn’t a total loss for Forrest; he had taken out its vines in that battle, so his opponent couldn’t use them.

Forrest reached onto his belt, grasping the second of his three Pokemon. He quickly launched it into the air, releasing the Pokeball’s contents at once.

“Okay Geodude, I need your help!”

OST:

The Rock Type Pokemon flexed its arms as it appeared on the field, prepared for any opponent. Aaron whipped out his Pokedex to check its level. On the screen displayed its name, along with a description as it read it aloud, “Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. Geodude has incredibly high defensive power, making it virtually resistant to any physical attacks.”

“Hm. Level 12 huh? That shouldn’t be too tough at all, considering he’s at a complete disadvantage. Bulbasaur, attack again with Magical Leaf.”

Bulbasaur released his attack once more. The magic leaves advanced swiftly towards their target. Forrest smiled in vain, knowing that he could not dodge this grass-type attack.

“Tch. Geodude, brace yourself. You can’t dodge this attack.”

Geodude put up both arms, covering the rest of its body for protection. The Magical Leaf struck the Rock Pokemon and sliced its body. Geodude flew back from the sheer force of the attack, landing on its back with a thud. The match between the two seemingly given to Bulbasaur, the health bar on the screen still showed signs of life for Geodude. The value underneath the name read a simple “1.”

Forrest smiled again, saying, “Geodude’s newfound ability: Sturdy. If hit with an attack that could one-hit-K.O., Geodude survives with one hit point.”

Aaron laughs, replying, “So, what good does that do?”

Forrest’s smiled soon faded. His head hung a little as he spoke a quiet command.

“…”

Geodude looked towards its trainer, trying to listen harder.

“Flamethrower…”

OST:

Geodude recognized the attack’s name, opening its mouth wide and releasing a torrent of flames. Although weak in comparison to a fire-type using the attack, this flamethrower was sure to do some damage to a Grass-type like
Bulbasaur. Aaron had enough time to react to the ranged attack, as he was across the field from it.

“Bulbasaur, run to the left, and circle around Geodude. When you get close enough, take aim, and fire your Magical Leaf!”

Bulbasaur didn’t even nod in agreement, and started leaping to the left. Geodude stayed in its position, continuing to let off Flamethrowers.

Forrest called out in confidence, “You see Aaron, I bought a technical machine for Flamethrower for these kinds of battles. I knew, being the new Rock-type Gym Leader, that people love to waltz in here with a grass-type or water-type and just own the place. Flamethrower allows me to cover one weakness, but the other still remains. My secret for Water, I won’t tell you, but it’s rather nice to have this kind of Pokemon at your disposal. Continue your Flamethrowers Geodude!”

“Geo- (cut off by Flamethrower)”

Bulbasaur’s eyes glowed as it ran from boulder to boulder. As it lessened the distance between it and Geodude, Bulbasaur ran straight at a boulder, jumping on it and pushing off. It used the momentum from the jump to push itself off, flying through the air and dodging Geodude’s latest flamethrower. A Magical Leaf was released from its bulb, and sailed towards the flaming Geodude.

Aaron gave out another command, “Good Bulbasaur, now, while it tries to stop the Magical Leaf with its Flamethrower, get behind it.”

“Bulba!”

Aaron gave this command before Forrest could even tell Geodude to block the attack with the rush of flames. But what choice did he have? The only possibility of beating this kid was to comply with his current position.

Forrest reluctantly gave his command, as Aaron had already predicted.

“Geodude! Burn the leaves with Flamethrower!”

“Geoduuuuuuuude.”

Geodude spat flames exponentially towards the flying leaves. Bulbasaur, as commanded, jumped behind the Rock Pokemon. Aaron smiled, knowing this battle was over.

“Bulbasaur, use Tackle!”

Bulbasaur leapt towards the defending Pokemon, tackling it to the ground. The health bar on the screen hit zero, and Bulbasaur’s face shown on the screen.

“Geodude is unable to battle, Bulbasaur wins! Forrest Harrison (Brock’s last name) of Pewter City has one Pokemon left.”

Forrest nodded at the referee, un-clipping his last pokeball from his belt. Inside, contained his prize Pokemon, the one he had owned since he started.

“Okay Rhydon, come on out!”

OST:

Forrest gave the first command eagerly, ready to get his started.

“Rhydon, lead it off with a Horn Attack!”

Rhydon lowered its head, charging towards Bulbasaur. The ground shook as the heavy Rock-type galloped towards its foe. Aaron couldn’t use the Vine Whip dodge strategy, as Bulbasaur’s vines were still injured. The only way he could win was with his Magical Leaf attack, which should be fairly easy to win with. Rhyhorn was upon Bulbasaur, with its head lowered to stab Bulbasaur with its horn. Aaron only had a few moments to react, but did flawlessly.

“Bulbasaur, dodge to the left, and then counter with a Magical Leaf!”

Bulbasaur quickly followed suit, his rather small body moving fast as he leaped to the left. The Grass-type did not want a horn to its face, and its expressions showed that clearly. Rhyhorn was a fairly large Pokemon, and Aaron knew that one Magical Leaf wasn’t going to be enough to take the behemoth down. Bulbasaur lets loose his leaves, striking Rhyhorn from the side with a barrage of slices. Rhyhorn whimpers as he takes each attack full on, and tries to shield itself, with very little effect.

Forrest scrunches up, murmuring in his boyish voice, “Damn. I thought Rhyhorn’s bulk would be able to stand this. I’m out of options. I’ll have to try the rest of his attacks.”

He raises his hand, and points towards Bulbasaur, yelling, “Alright Rhyhorn, use Rock Tomb!”

Rhyhorn lifted its massive armored head, gathering earth into a boulder surrounded by a dark red light. Rhyhorn moves its head towards Bulbasaur, separating the rocks into five different boulders that surround the Grass-types sides. The fifth rock is placed on top, trapping Bulbasaur indefinitely. Aaron’s face scrunched up, unprepared for such an attack. The young trainer carefully weighed his options in his head, trying to come up with the best scenario.

“Hm…Alright, I think I’ve got it,” Aaron said after a couple moments.

“Bulbasaur! I know your vines are injured, but the only way for you to get out is if you push the top boulder out of the way and leap out! I can tell you’re scrunched underneath, but it’s our last chance. I need you to use Vine Whip, now!”
Bulbasaur acknowledged his trainer’s command, thinking of ways that would least hurt itself. As it released its vines, the ends curled up behind a thicker part of the vine, as to not cause any pain. Bulbasaur thrusts the vines at the rocks, pushing the top one away fairly easily. As he leaps out of the trap, Aaron calls out, “Now! Finish this with Magical Leaf!”

Taking Rhyhorn and Forrest by surprise, the young trainer grins as he unleashes his last command. Bulbasaur’s leaves fly mercilessly towards the Rock-type, striking it in the side and pushing it onto its back. The Rhyhorn stopped moving, the buzzer in the gym screaming its verdict once the health bar dropped to zero on the screen. Forrest reluctantly took out his pokeball, calling back his final pokemon after its sure loss. He was smiling the whole time however, as it seemed the very young gym leader enjoyed his battle.

OST:

Forrest mentioned over to Aaron, walking towards the middle of the field. The new trainer quickly followed suit, his hands now in his jean’s pockets.

“Nice battle! Your battling style is tons better than anyone I have ever faced. When my big brother let me fill in for him, I was never expecting this! Here are your prizes: One thousand pokebucks, TM Rock Tomb, and the Pewter City Gym Badge. Congratulations. You have beaten your first gym.”

Aaron’s face shifts from serious to insanely excited. He grasps the prizes, almost worshipping the objects before him.
“It was a great battle Forrest! I am happy to have challenged this gym. Thank you for the prizes, and the ability to battle the Pewter City Gym Leader. However, I cannot linger in Pewter for very long, as Cerulean City waits for my skills.”

Aaron shows his hand, which is held upright and held close to his chest. The replacement Gym Leader took it, shaking it while grinning.

“I’m sure the Gym Leaders there will have too much of a problem with you. From what my big brother tells me, Misty, the true gym leader left as well on a journey with a boy named Ash Ketchum. All I can tell ya is there are three of them, and they do wuss out in a serious fight, so you won’t have as great of a match as you did against me.”
Aaron laughed heartily, “Of course not! Hopefully, these three aren’t too overly dramatic, or my Bulbasaur’s pride will be hurt with such a non-serious battle.”

As the two conversed a little longer, Aaron’s new PokeGear rang, filling the gym with a familiar tone, “Ringringring ringringring Phone Call Phone call…”

OST:

Aaron sighed loudly, answering the pokegear immediately, “Hello?”

Another familiar sound came from the other side of the phone, “Hello? Aaron?”

Aaron, surprised at the voice, answered rather quickly, “Hey Aunt Jenny, how are you?”

Jenny cut’s him short, almost yelling out, “Look, I just got a call from the Jenny in Pewter, saying that they were trying to stop a force from robbing Pewter City Museum, and they were having some trouble. If you could make it over there undercover as a citizen, that’d be great. Sneak in, act as a hostage, and take them out from the inside. The robbers are wearing black garments and hats with orange R’s on the shirts. They are holding people hostage with Zubat, Ekans and Sandshrew. I’d suggest using both of your Pokemon for the assault inside.”

Aaron’s expression changed from happiness to complete seriousness. He replied abruptly, “Got it.” And hung up the phone. Forrest looked confused, wondering what had just been said to him.

Aaron walked towards the door, stopping right in the walkway.

“Forrest, would you know about any secret passageways inside the museum? Are you the strongest trainer in your family?”

Forrest was astonished at the two questions, but answered sincerely.

“Well, there is a house on the side of the museum with a door to the counter, but I don’t know that’s what you meant. And no, there are my father and big brother Brock who are stronger than me. Why?”

Aaron thought for a second, wondering if he should say something.

After a couple seconds, he had made his decision.

“I need your help. I need you to lead me to the correct place, and have your father join the Police in the frontal assault. Once you show me, I want you to join your dad and the Officers just in case they need some hard-hitters to break in.”

Forrest was left confused, unable to comprehend what he was saying.

“What are you talking about?”

Aaron completely forgot to relay the details. He chuckled to himself on the speed of his thoughts.

“Robbers have broken into the Museum and are holding people hostage. The Police currently can’t do anything due to the hostages being held at Poison point and Gun point. I need to break in and take them out before anything happens.”

Aaron flipped out his pokedex as Forrest realized the situation. He placed it above his two pokeballs, trying to see if either of them had gained any new moves. He smiled as he looked at Bulbasaur’s attacks.

“This will be easier than I thought. I’m happy I didn’t pick another starter!”

Forrest finally collected himself, and already had two pokeballs in hand.

“I’m ready, let’s go.”

Aaron smiled, holding out a fist, “Good, contact your dad and tell him to meet the police out front. They might need the Rock-types.”

Forrest bumped it with his own, “Gotcha.”

The two headed out, Aaron now moving on to his first mission as an undercover officer, and the youngest one at that. He needed to make sure this wasn’t his last, and as well as everyone in the museum.

Ok Double A it was good and intense battle I think Rhyhorn should've picked up the victory though. I'm fine with the Bulbasaur sweep. Surprised it didn't evolve into Ivysaur, I was thinking that he would've evolved and then lose to Ryhorn still. Good battle man you're doing great and can't wait to read the next.
