Prologue

Song:

-------A year has gone by since the ten year-old Ash Ketchum, now eleven, left his home town of Pallet to pursue his dream in battling. Team Rocket has been slightly dealt with, the main source still thriving. Kanto has become increasingly aware of Pokémon from other regions, some even migrating from time to time. Professor Oak has collaborated with two other Professors on this occurrence: Elm and Birch. The city is Viridian, a young eleven year-old has awoken, ready for the first day of his journey. He’ll be taking a trip to Professor Oak’s research lab in Pallet to choose and receive his first Pokémon. He had scheduled this with Officer Jenny of Viridian City, his Dad’s friend’s wife, to take him there by car. Aaron looks up to her like an Aunt more than a family friend. Then, he would walk the way back to Viridian with his newly gained Pokémon to show off to his family, and eventually battle someone special. Aaron had always enjoyed Pokémon, watching the greatest hash it out on TV with numerous powerful Pokémon and various strategy. Aaron had always wanted to be one of those people, always wanting to challenge the Pokémon League and win. Here was his chance! His journey has begun!

First Friend

Song:

--------A short brown hair, green eyed kid looked out in front of him as the jeep advanced towards Pallet Town. He was wearing his favorite sweatshirt, a lighter orange-red with Arcanine stripes all over and an old English V on the upper-right of his chest, representing Viridian City’s baseball team: The Viridian Arcanines. His voice was relatively low for his age, something that went perfectly with his height. Every time a stranger has met him, they always think of Aaron to be older than eleven, getting the usual twelve or thirteen. Aaron noticed something up ahead, and motioned to Officer
Jenny, “Hey Officer Jenny, what is that up ahead?”

The green haired police officer responded, noticing the flash off of something shiny, “I wonder what that could be, do you want to check it out?”

“If that’s alright with you,” responded Aaron ecstatically, his eyes glistening. Jenny replied with a small smile on her face, she had never seen the boy more excited, “Sounds good.”

As the two approach the object, Aaron is surprised by what it is:
“It’s a Pokémon!”

Officer Jenny immediately stops the car, and they both jump out to see what has happened to it. Aaron sprints to a jet black Pokémon with a chrome colored skull on the top of its head along with two metal stripes going across its back. Officer Jenny recognized the Pokemon instantly, “It’s a Houndour! What’s one doing in Kanto?”

Aaron grabbed Houndour; his eyes widening, noticing its injuries, “It seems to be hurt!”

Officer Jenny replied, “Let’s take it to Professor Oak, he has medical machines there.”

“Right!”

The duo jump back into the car and Officer Jenny steps on the gas; speeding towards the Laboratory. The young Houndour yelps after every bounce, causing the eleven year old to worry. “Don’t worry Houndour, we’ll get you healthy soon,” Aaron said softly to the dog Pokémon.

After what seemed like hours, the two arrive at Oak’s Laboratory, a rather large white and majenta house that resembles a mill. Aaron rushes Houndour to the main door, and knocks once. Professor Oak appeared, dressed in his usual lab coat over a mid-red polo.

“I got the message from Officer Jenny. Follow me,” replied the old professor.
Aaron followed Oak into what seemed like a miniature Pokémon Center, placing Houndour on a stretcher. Oak and Jenny rushed it into another room, working on its injuries immediately. Aaron plopped into a nearby seat, a worried look upon his face. He waited for at least an hour, before a specific DING sound was made and a red syringe sign lit up. Professor Oak stood in front of Aaron, smiling.

“Houndour’s going to be alright. He seemed to have been poisoned. Aaron, I presume?”

Aaron looked relieved. He replied, “Yeah I’m Aaron!”

Professor Oak smiled again, saying, “Then follow me. I have something for you.”

Aaron stared wide-eyed, knowing full well what was about to be given to him. He follows Professor Oak into another room, where a white machine with three round slots was sitting. The famous professor presses a red button on the side panel, and two pokeballs appear in two of the three slots. The gray haired man states, “I have two left: a Squirtle and a Bulbasaur. Another young trainer came earlier and chose Charmander not too long ago.”
Aaron contemplates the decision for a while, wondering about his future. The answer only coming after a couple minutes, “I would like to have Bulbasaur!”

Professor Oak smiled again, handing him the Pokeball, along with a Pokedex and five other Pokeball’s. He had just made another kid’s day, sending Aaron off to the world. Officer Jenny had already left, knowing full well that Aaron will be protected by his new Bulbasaur. The grass starter was said to enjoy being out of its pokeball, but doesn’t mind being inside either. Oak gave Aaron Bulbasaur’s attack list upon request, as the young trainer seemed to enjoy such things. Aaron smiled at the known moves, happy to know how strong his new friend was. Aaron finally left, waving goodbye to the Professor.

Song:

Outside of Oak’s lab, a pack of eight Houndour and Houndoom waited angrily. Aaron, frightened by the sight, released his only owned Pokémon, who happened to be at a strict disadvantage to the lot. Bulbasaur stared at the group, shaking in the knees as they began to attack with a flurry of Smog and Ember attacks. Aaron managed to shake his feelings, knowing the situation.

Song:

Aaron commanded his Bulbasaur as an Ember attack flew towards it, “Bulbasaur, jump up and use Tackle attack!”
Bulbasaur followed his command, using a jump-powered tackle to take out one of the weaker Houndour. Aaron reacted before the opposition had time to think about their next move.

“Now Bulbasaur, grab one of the other Houndour with your Vine Whip and throw it into one of the bigger ones!”

“Bulbasaur!”

The plant dinosaur grasped a smaller Houndour with lengthened vines and threw it into a Houndoom, taking it completely off guard. One of the larger Houndoom finally found its opening, releasing a barrage of ember onto the young grass-type Pokémon. The searing flames connected with their target, burning Bulbasaur’s skin immediately. Another Houndoom was ready to pounce on Aaron’s defenseless Pokémon, preparing a bite attack. Anticipating the end, Bulbasaur closed its eyes and shut out its trainer’s commands, unnoticing the black body soaring through the air above Aaron and Bulbasaur. The Houndour that was once injured appeared in front of the others, standing in between the pack and the trainer. The black-furred dogs paused for a second, halting their attack on the new trainer and the young Pokémon. The biggest of the pack, a Houndoom was about to attack. It walked forward, making various clicking and barking noises to communicate with young Houndour. Houndour responded, also “speaking” in a similar dialect.

What happened? We thought you had gotten lost!

Houndour responded, “A bunch of mean Beedrill attacked me in the forest and poisoned me. This kid picked me off of the side of the road and healed me!

The Houndoom seemed relieved, and said, “The trainer still seems weak. I feel like I should battle him.”

Houndour replied, “Don't, I want too. If I lose, I will come back. I like this kid.

Houndoom growled, “Fine.”

The Houndour reared up and growled at Aaron, who was unaware of the current situation. Oak promptly stated in his “oaky” voice, “It seems as though Houndour would like to battle.”

Aaron looked worried at his Bulbasaur, who stood up almost reluctantly, showing a peculiar. Bulbasaur knew exactly what was happening, and was excited to participate. Aaron grinned after he noticed the look in Bulbasaurs eyes. The kid was ready to get into this, preparing a quick strategy to combat the chrome-skulled Pokémon. Houndour got into position and the battle has started!

Song:

Houndour growled menacingly at the trainer, hoping for an excellent battle. The Houndour rushed Bulbasaur, preparing to deliver a powerful attack. The fire dog emits an Ember, directed straight at Bulbasaur. Aaron grins confidently, commanding the grass starter, “Bulbasaur, dodge by jumping into the air with your Vine Whip!”
Bulbasaur followed the order, releasing himself from the ground. Houndour watched in surprise as the plant dinosaur flew up into the air.

“Bulbasaur, Leech Seed!”

A small seed appeared out of the leaf dinosaur’s bulb, soaring towards the black dog Pokémon. It connected, wrapping vines all over the unsuspecting body. The seed then beamed red, a clear sign of the attack draining energy from the Houndour and transferring it to Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur seemed slightly rejuvenated from the transfer, which Aaron was going for to begin with. Houndour spewed purple smog in front of him, covering himself as he released another flurry of Ember attacks from within the reaches of the smoke. Aaron barely had time to react, commanding Bulbasaur to sidestep the attack. Unfortunately for them, one of the coals hit the grass type, causing severe damage. Bulbasaur got down on one of knee in pain, grimacing while doing so. Houndour took the moment to release another ember attack. The scorching flames were about to reach Bulbasaur, until it reacted by sending several bright green leaves towards the burning coals. The two attacks collided, providing a small amount of smoke from the impact. Professor Oak stared in wonder as he watched the Bulbasaur perform a near perfect Magical Leaf attack. He left the battlefield to figure out what had just taken place, phoning Professor Elm immediately.

“Yes erm, Elm, how are you? I have a question. Where did you get the two Bulbasaur that bred the one I have? What do they know?”

Professor Birch responded in disarray, “Oh, erhm, Professor! I’m fine. The male was from Hoenn, upon discovery of a nest by Professor Birch, and the female was from you in Kanto. Did the child manage to learn anything?”

Oak replied astoundingly, “Uh, yes actually! It managed to use a Magical Leaf attack at an early level. How did you know?”

Elm stated matter-of-factly, “While I was researching breeding with Mr. Pokémon, we discovered that one of the babies could use a move its parent knew prior to mating. The move was passed down like a gene, but we haven’t really been able to recreate it. This is great news! Our theory was right! Thanks Professor Oak, but I’ve got to deliver this to Mr. Pokémon!”

Song:

Professor Elm disappeared, leaving his camera on. Professor Oak put his hand to his face, laughing about how disorderly his former student was. He left the laboratory, watching intently as Aaron picked up a pokeball from the ground, the Houndour nowhere to be seen. Oak, noticing the capture said, “Good for you Aaron! How did you win?”

Aaron grinned happily, replying, “I used Bulbasaur’s vines to shift him around the field, firing that leaf attack continuously. I was surprised to learn it never missed. Professor, do you know what move that is?”

“That would be Magical Leaf my boy. Why don’t you come inside so we can heal and analyze your new Pokémon?”

“Magical Leaf huh? Sounds like a great attack. Way to go Bulbasaur,” responded the young trainer!

Professor Oak thought to himself while Aaron celebrated in the background, "using a Pokemon like Bulbasaur to beat a fire type like Houndour, (YES I GOT ONE, A NEW FRIEND! TODAY'S THE BEST DAY EVER) with such a strategy is unheard of at his age. Hmmm, interesting."

Song:

The two went inside, discussing the various skills of the two Pokémon while they were healing using a Pokémon Center healing zone. Aaron was calmed as he was taught the uses of the special abilities, Overgrow and Flash Fire. Aaron had already begun to plan strategies, becoming giddy with the joy of training.

Once the two finished healing, Aaron left the laboratory, and eventually Pallet Town. He reached his first path, known as Route One. His two new friends were on each side of him, walking happily along their trainer. They all smiled brightly as Aaron was headed to his hometown of Viridian, hoping to show his parents his new friends and maybe catch an Arcanine game while there. Professor Oak watched as the three left, thinking about this special trainer,

This kid, he’s as strategic as Gary, but as kind as Ash. I hope to watch him grow to become a powerful and caring Trainer. I want to see that battle when they finally meet. He shall easily surpass the both of them.

Song:

Listen to the song as you Imagine Aaron and co. walking to a sunset along the treeline.

Finish Song

Aaron arrived days later at his house in Viridian City. His parents, along with Officer Jenny and his Dad’s friend, were there to congratulate the boy and see him off. His father took him aside, giving him a stern look and said, “Since you just arrived home, how about we lighten the mood up with your first Trainer battle?”

“YES! I’ve always wanted this day to come, the day when I finally beat my father!”

“Oh, is that so,” asked his father sarcastically?

“We're ready for anything that you have, right Bulbasaur?”

"Bulbasaur," replied the plant Pokemon.

Song:

"I'm just going to have to beat you with my best Pokemon then," said his father.

Aaron’s mother stood next to them, saying softly, “Well, that's just going to have to wait until after dinner.”

"Raaaaar," growled Houndour, hungrily. The three haven't eaten serious food since back at the lab, and they were starving. Aaron was the only one of the three unhappy to go eat.

“Awww, Maaooom,” groaned the two simultaneously.

“Ah ah ah, don’t carry that tone with me boys.”

The three laughed as they headed inside, ready to eat to their hearts content.

Stylistically good, action good.

What is choppy are your transitions; events happen one after another, with almost no sequencing for them main example, they go outside and the houndoom/houndour group is just waiting for them? Didn't hear em from inside, they didn't bark or howl or anything? Just something to think on.

Also, was oak talking to elm or birch or both? You switched names a lot on the phone call.

But good start, onto the next one.
