Prologue: Which one should I use?
1. A year has gone by since the ten year-old Ash Ketchum, now eleven, left his home town of Pallet to pursue his dream in battling. Team Rocket has been slightly dealt with, the main source still thriving. Kanto has become increasingly aware of Pokémon from other regions, some even migrating from time to time. The city is Viridian, a young eleven year-old has awoken, ready for the first day of his journey. He’ll be taking a paid trip to Professor Oak’s research lab in Pallet to choose and receive his starter Pokémon. He had scheduled this with Officer Jenny of Viridian, his Dad’s friend’s wife, to take him there by car. Then he would walk the way back with his newly gained Pokémon. He had always enjoyed Pokémon, watching the greatest hash it out with numerous powerful Pokémon and various fantastic strategy. Aaron had always wanted to be one of those people, always wanting to challenge the Pokémon League. Here was his chance! His journey was about to begin!
2. A couple years have gone by since the young Ash Ketchum, now thirteen has left Pallet Town. His journey has taken him to the Hoenn region, where he is currently competing for his fifth badge. This time, he's not the main character. Another thirteen year-old has reached Hoenn, Aaron from Viridan City. His journey started a year after Ash, completing Johto and Kanto handily. Aaron placed second in the Indigo Plateau, and top four his second time around. His team was well raised, giving them the proper training and befriended them as if they were special. His journey in Hoenn is starting in the town of Littleroot, where he is receiving an updated Pokedex from Professor Birch. Little did he know that he would meet his first friend in the same place...
Should I make an extensive Prologue with the first paragraph and start the story with the second?

Square one sounds like the best place to start to me, though.
