Which is more essential for a story to be good ? I feel like Naruto has had more action than plot. Because there are many unanswered questions. Like Hashirama's Son/Daughter. Or Minato's or Hiruzen's clan. Or what about who Sasuke Sarutobi was. Or Sakumo Hatake. More story on Kagami Uchiha . The other jinchuuriki and how they got them. And there are more. But instead we got pointless action with Kaguya and some Zetsu clones. I just feel like Kishimoto could have made Naruto a very deep story with well written characters.

Plot is more important to me, which is why Naruto is shit ever since the start of the war arc

Plot, easily.

Take Death Note, that manga and anime has hardly any action, but is often rated as one of the best of all time. How many romance themed anime and manga series do you think hold their own as well?

War arc was filled with a lot of pointless fighting tbh. Who cares about Darui fighting Kinkaku and Ginkaku. Or better yet, TenTen vs Kakazu's masks.

Plot since how could a story be interesting with only action?

exactly another example are old Chinese/Japanese movies which are full of non stop action without any story behind it.And of course its stupid.

Plot is definitely the winner. If Kishi. had focused more on developing the plot and the characters rather than focusing on the action, I would of enjoyed Naruto's final moments a lot more.

Plot, action.

Doesn't matter. It's mainly people would prefer plot if the action wasn't good enough and vice versa.

As for Naruto, they're both crap. So much potential but taken in the wrong direction. The series is ruined with kishi's divided attention which resulted to fan servicing and of course his fault that he can't write proper female chars. They're all promising but ends up becoming a plaything for the male chars. The only one worth even mentioning is Tsunade but he ruined that too especially on J-man. That was THE perfect time for a fan service but nooo he'd go to whichever one has the most rating.

Eh for the story to be good, plot. Although some series can get away with having more action ie guren laguen (although it did have good plot albeit fast pace).

I completely agree with this right here. And Death Note was a perfect example to use as well.

So plot is definitely more important. Just look at the Bleach Manga. If not for the epic fighting and unique art style, and memorable characters, Bleach wouldn't have made it passed issue 50. There is no story there only action. But at least Kubo does the action well.

Naruto had a great story....up until the end of the Pain/Kage Summit Arc. Then it fell a little flat. Not the worse I've seen mind you. But I have seen a lot better.

You don't pay attention to posts that much do you bruh...all the people saying plot, were the ones defending plot when the action mongers were complaining about there not being enough action in any particular chapter.

Instead of calling people names just give your opinion on the matter and leave at that K? :bye:

Well, it's obviously plot. No story can be good without the series of events that make up its foundation. Some films or anime get away with it cause they have very good action, but in the end, there's gotta be some semblance of a story.

Talking about Naruto, I don't like the series as a whole enough to say which was more important to it, but I liked learning facts about the history of the Narutoverse more than I did the action (except in needlessly long flashbacks). And that's honestly what they should be spending their time doing with the fillers, instead of these pointless, sometimes awful side stories.

And there are some pretty well-written characters in Naruto for what it is (i.e. Gaara, Sasuke, Kakashi, Shikamaru, etc.), but in the end, it is a shōnen series and focuses on delivering decent to great action more of the time because of that.
