fair enough, but there are still people who are ok/ made peace with the big revelation and still find it hard to believe that all of the inconsistencies are minor little issues. as many people are trying to say the plot is still incomplete but this doesn't mean there is no story insofar! plot does not equal storyline and it is the second that acts as a guide to future plot and points out any problems. that's basic writing techniques.

it's not a single mistake or nit picking, we are talking major retcon. imho the fanbase has every right to react (even if we disagree with some reactions); a lot of us have been following Naruto for years now, that by itself is major support, let alone the fact that people have been buying merchandise, etc. it's only natural that people need time and a good plot to follow in order to accept that level of retcon.

EDIT: sorry, just saw your response to my previous post. i agree 100% with what you said, for the time being it's best to wait and see what comes next. :)

You'll have to forgive me, I don't know what "retcon" is. The base is split into about 3 groups now, those that hate Obito, those that "knew" it was Obito, and those that have come to terms with it being him (or his body at the very least).

I'm not really arguing with you there, the base CAN react the way it has, but it has blown up with people who want answers RIGHT NOW. I understand because with so many questions, we are hungry for more, but it's gone from hopeful curiosity to hostility and anger very quickly, with the chapter only being out for 2 days.

My ultimate problem has been with the people that have claimed that Kishi owes it to US to make it what WE want, that's not how a story goes. A story is a telling of what happened, and just giving us what we want doesn't make it a good story, it makes it fan fiction.

I don't care about Obito being Tobi. I'm just upset that he messed up the timeline to his own Manga. I mean it's like we know the story and care about it more than he does.

Sometimes people just mess up. It's not like he can change it now.

copying from wikipedia, and this is what it actually means if you want to crosscheck from other sites, Retroactive continuity (retcon for short) is the alteration of previously established facts in a fictional work.

other than that you are right, certain reactions escalated to hostility or admiration too fast. what can we do? that's life and it was expected that if kishimoto went for a drastic choice such things would happen. personally, i had hoped that Tobi would prove to be sth artificial partially to avoid such issues as well.

Obito's story is definitely going to be very interesting from the theoretical pov, one dealing with the aspects of emotions and character development. as far as the practical aspect is concerned, it's rather hard to maintain consistency. now, if the technical elements are done right (artwork is fine, pacing is good) then Obito's story can still score high.

Ah, got it.

We all wanted to believe we had it right, with Obito being the first theory EVER it seemed, many began growing tired of all the people claiming it to be Obito. To an extent I believe that we all wanted to believe that we KNEW who it was and those that didn't needed to be educated. He had to make a choice though, and not everyone was going to be happy no matter what he did.

Definitely, from here on out the revelations should kick in and we should all get an earful about what really happened for the past 17 years. It's all really exciting actually haha. I think the pacing will be a little slow to be honest, but for a good reason.
