Why didn't Hagoromo destroy the Gedo Mazo if he feared the Juubi's revival? His rinnegan allowed him to summon it from the moon at will.

Probably because he simply couldn't destroy the Gedo Mazo just like they couldn't simply finish off their mother as both the Gedo Mazo and she were too strong. Trust me, if she could be killed then neither he and his brother + later Team Kakashi had fun with the entire sealing thing.

The whole Kaguya sealing put the original Gedou story in shambles. It is a slew of inconsistencies and that Hamura rubbish just adds to it. Just don't think about it and save yourself the headache.

Especially when some of the notable parts *cough*Kaguya*cough* *cough*Hamura*cough* were to make Hyuuga relevant. Hamura was also for the Yin/Yang thing, but makes no sense as Hagoromo was meant to be Yin and Yang which he was anyway. :| Smh.

Well only possible 2 explanations I would see:

1)

1. Hagoromo and Hamura seal Juubi's empty husk creating Moon while Juubi's chakra was sealed in Hagoromo

2. Hamura goes to moon with Ootsutsuki clan

3. Hagoromo try to use Juubi's chakra along with Rinnegan to dispel IT, but find out impossible to use Juubi's chakra without it's body.

4. Hagoromo summon Gedo mazou and seal in himself as well, Demon Rabbit stays on the moon

5. Hagoromo becomes Juubi Jinchurki and as that dispel IT

6. Hagoromo spreads chakra and teaches Ninshu to mankind

7. Hagoromo decides to follow Ashura's path creating Tailed beasts and using reverse summon on Gedo Mazou to sumon it back to Moon.

8. Hagoromo dies by human death

That's not a pothole. That's like me saying" Why didn't Minato kill Obito after he escaped, as he had him marked with the FTG?". There would be practicaally no plot if that happened. Plot first, logic second is how it usually is in manga.
