right here tobi says that the rinne tensei was supposed to be used on him but hes talking to zetsu the only person we know that knows that tobi is not madara as we can tell because zetsu is the only person who doesnt call him madara so why would he say that to him

I Agree. I think Tobi is a clone of Madara.. perhaps with the right half of someone else (Lets not get into a whole "Tobi is Obito" or someone else discussion hehe).

But if he is indeed a clone of madara, perhaps with the memories (that would make sense if he is a clone using Zetsu). Then, perhaps he made it, so the Rinne Tensei would return his true soul to that body. As we know it returns the souls from the afterlife, and if it can revive so many as it did after the Konoha battle - Imagine how powerfull it would be with just a single target.

Either Tobi really is "part" or Madara somehow, or the idea was the bring back real Madara, and Tobi just really likes impersonating Madara.

i just think it suggests tobi is someone madara was working with. Izuna maybe...maybe. Kabuto confirmed this when he said he didnt think Tobi wouldnt act according to plan. But the clone theory is possible because tobi did say he was a shell of his former self.

it was part of tobi and madara's original plan to be revived by nagato, but tobi said naruto threw a wrench in his plan
and madara said that if he was revived with edo tensei something wasn't going according to the plan
