In like 90% of cases, getting a thread hot means you've started a flame war, and the Hottest section was pretty much nothing but a Hall of Fame for the biggest flame wars.

Adding 4 boxes to the homepage will add too much clutter, it would turn members off joining. 3 is a more suitable amount. And I personally would prefer having the 'News' box instead as it has proven to promote contests and also many members say that 'they easily miss certain news that gets announced', so this method is a great way of sending that information out.

The hottest threads were usually only filled mostly with troll threads and it was really useless.
