You can use the tutorials here on NB and youtube. It's not hard to open it and save it to your computer. Did you download it right?

where did you download it from?
youtube has pretty good tutorials for GIMP, check out how to make a basic graphic, how to make a border, drop shadow, gradient. also check out how to download and install brushes and fonts. choose some good ones and start experimenting.

you mean its lagging when y open it?If it is that,dont worry.Just reinstall it and then leave it run.It may lag again but it is loading fonts and brushes.Just be patient!
