The first step in Role playing is to create a biography. A biography or "bio" is the character or personality one uses in training or battle. This character may have special abilities, weapons and other variations. There are two types bios, Cannon and Custom. To create a regular biography, the member needs a minimum of 50 posts. Read the

Cannon Bio: Is any biography shown in the Naruto manga. eg. Naruto.
Custom Bio: Is any biography made up by the user or shown in another show, anime, manga or series. eg. Ichigo.
Cannon bios may have special restrictions needed to make them due to the character having a valuable special ability. For information, or just for checking if your character doesn't have any restrictions, refer to the

sub-forum. Restrictions may vary from posts needed to taking a battle test. If you're aiming for a bio, either cannon or custom, note that Kekke Genkai or "KG" abilities such as Sharingan, Dark Release etc. requires a minimum of 1,500 posts. A battle test is a battle between an RP moderator or sensei and the user. Battle Tests are also required for not only bio, but also abilities, for example the Rain Element.
With the basic principles of restrictions and the types of bios understood, it's time to create your bio. Go to the

Creating a Cannon Biography
For creating a cannon biography, you will need to visit the #1 naruto information sharing website,

. When there, get straight to the Search function.
Note: This website also includes information on each jutsu, cannon summons, cannon weapons, tools and groups. Basically everything related to Naruto.
I'll insert Naruto here for example. There are pictures, a list of his jutsu, his personal information, his background, his adventures and basically everything there is known about him that has been released up to the manga so far. This is where creating your Cannon Biography becomes as easy as pie. By using the bio template shown

. That's a basic template, any member is allowed to add some BB code edits to make it more fashionable. The Basic Information section is all shown in the Wikia, so that's an easy part. Same goes for the looks and personality. As soon as those are filled, add which Village you/ the character is in, then the village he forms alliance with. The next step is to add your post rank.
Next is the specialties, using Uchiha in general as an example, the sharingan and Fire Release are specialties auto. For the elements, if you have not yet learn't anything in any element, add the first element you want to learn, then add "Needs Training" for it. The "Your ninjutsu" part is basically the techniques your cannon biography posses, using sasuke as an example, chidori, kirin, Dragaon Fireball and chidori nagashi can be added as his ninjutsu. Also a list of your progress (up to what rank you have learn't) in ninjutsu, taijutsu , genjutsu etc.
Next is the Background History. For a cannon bio, this is very simple, this is the part famous for copy and pasting from the wikia, I recommend you read whatever you copy and paste and make the necessary edits. When done, time to add other information. Pictures are also on the wiki page, however, searching on

can give you numerous HQ renders or stock. You can also add a section for "Abilities" on your bio, using naruto as an example, one would be "Mastery of the Clone Technique", that is if you have learn't it in NInjutsu, etc. Add a video from youtube, then add your battle information (wins and losses).
Creating a Custom Biography
With the basics down, I'll explain the more complicated parts. So I'll skip right to the part with "Clan", as much newcomers mess up on that part for custom biographies. You cannot make up a clan and add it here, you must have a cannon clan or a custom clan which has been approved in the

thread. Note, for the custom clans, you must have linked proof to being accepted by the clan leader. Next is specialties, A bio can have many specialties. Specialties may include Kenjutsu (Sword Style), Fuunjutsu (Sealing Style), selected Ninjutsu/Elements or KG etc. In order to have an element as a specialty, you need to have that element mastered, an example of an exception of the element mastery rule is that Uchiha always have the Fire element has specialty, regardless if the user has mastered fire.
The background history must be custom. The content can include NB members etc., as long as it is custom. Now with the abilities. This is where most people get their bio declined due to ridiculous abilities. Having an element mastered and in the specialty slot gains the user an advantage. He/she can add that due to mastery/specialty, they can perform all techniques of that element with one handseal. However, the one handseal ability cannot be for two elements on the same bio, the other can have 2 less handseals, or faster handseals etc. No bio will be approved if an ability is that he can fly doe to wind mastery, none will be approved if stated that a normal shinobi can smell and trace an opponent Long range away etc. If unsure about abilities, contact an RP moderator or a sensei.
