As the one above said that rin was sanibi jin and she was stabbed accidently. Actually kakashi was going to kill someone else but rin came in between cuz she wanted to die cuz she was annoyed of being jinchuriki also she loves kakashi and she doesn't want to lose him but if she remained jinchuriki she can never be with him so she used the opportunity and gotten stabbed by him that's all. Now i think you understand this

This. Kirigakure was trying to pull a Sunagakure like they did with Gaara, but Rin took a shot to the heart instead. Though to be specific, Rin got in the way of Kakashi's attack.
