Please Explain The Sage of Six Paths!!!!!

Ok so I am confused by what exactly is going on with the Sage of Six Paths. They said that the rennigan was part of the Sage of Six Paths, then they said to have his power you need the sharingan and rennigan, also ontop of that the nine tail called naruto the Sage of Six Paths and if i am not mistaken they have mentioned other things with the Sage of Six Paths. So can anyone please explain what all of it means and why they keep comparing people to the Sage. Thanks.

naruto is a sage not sage of 6 paths....
rinnegan users can have 6 paths but none of them are sage of 6 paths....
sage of 6 paths is a legendary person/god who had rinnegan n had 10 tails in him....he is ancestor of all the ninjas in the narotuverse.

The Sage was the first person to posses the Rinnegan. After he died his sons inherited his power, the older son with his ocular power and the younger with his spiritual power. As time progressed his son's decendants, the Uchiha and the Senju, both inherited variations of the son's power, the sharingan and the senju life force. In order for someone to reestablish the sage's power you would first need the DNA of his last known inheritors, in this case Uchiha and Senju.

As for Naruto, the Uzumaki were said to be blood relatives to the Senju. Meaning Naruto has part of the Senju life force. So when Naruto took control over the Fox, his body became more like the sage's spiritual energy, thus causing the Fox to refer to his power similar to the sage.
