The first time I was even able to vote, I voted for Obama...I will never vote again. xd Seriously though, it didn't have an affect. I'm republican and live in Kentucky. I voted Obama, but my state turned red anyway...so why did I vote? My state will always turn red, no matter what I do.

I am obligated to vote every time there is some sort of election - if I don't and I have no good reason to not vote (for example if you can proof you were sick on the election day or in another country with no way to arrive back on time, then it's not a problem if you can't vote) then I have to pay a fine

Of course! The reason most countries who are supposed to be democratic end up falling into states where there's actually little civilian action and voice in government is because not enough people take an active interest in the countries politics! The U.S. for example has a voting rate of those who are legal to vote sitting at approximately 40%! (That's really, really awful.) Therefore, it is the informed citizen's duty to participate in Democracy!
