"The ps4 and xbox one lifespan will not be as long as the ps3 and xbox 360 because as we know they're lagging behind pc"

For ****'s sake you PC riders this isn't about competition between gaming methods. How the **** would that even directly affect the matter?

OT: I'm good.

Look heres the thing; the average lifespan of consoles has traditionally only been a few years. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Sony and Microsoft are already laying out the plans for the next gen systems.

The 7th generation of gaming consoles were an anomaly. Somehow, they managed to live for a decade, but thats not the norm. And the millennials that grew up on the 7th gen consoles don't understand that. The worst thing that could happen to console gaming however would be for the new norm to be a 10 year life-cycle. Especially in todays age where technology drastically improves every year, to limit gaming to 10-year old tech is a con to the consumers to say the least. The 8th gen consoles were drastically underdeveloped in terms of tech-capabilities at launch. Now we're 2 years into the current gen, and games are still struggling to run consistently in the most basic form of HD - when every other form of home entertainment is now shifting into the 4K territory.

I like how Microsoft is making windows more gamer friendly with all these Xbox exclusive games becoming Microsoft exclusive, but tbh that will eventually eat into their Xbox revenues, most PC fans only own consoles cos of exclusive titles, removing that would make PC fans stick solely with PC.

I highly doubt that PS5 will be able to get into the 4K territory. They're struggling in 1080p. Sony should slap the PS5 with a good graphics card that could maintain 1440p 60FPS. I know they can do that but it will cost a lot so I dunno what Sony will pull w/the PS5.

I really feel bad for the people who got a PS4 and sony is just thinking about the PS5. Like my friend told me last year - ''if the PS3 works then PS4 does not exist in my dictionary''.

Well I'm sure that they can't cover the DS ground.

Got my PS4 for dirt cheap so honestly up for it though might not be in the console market if I have a pc running 4k games by then. Even if they move the resolution up to 2k that just wont be enough for me. With 8k on the horizen 3 years from now I wont be playing no damn 2k bs. 4k and 5k will be the standard and if Sony or hell even Microsoft dont adjust to that then to hell with their systems :)

Well the first PS3 slim came out in 09 three years after OG release in 06. So by that formula a PS4 slim is due this year or next. With the NX maybe coming this year, perhaps this will come true.

Oh god no, there isn't a snowballs chance in hell the next generation gaming consoles can produce anywhere near 4k. My point was just that the current gen consoles were practically dead on arrival already in terms of technology when compared to what's readily available elsewhere. To be honest, Im fully expecting the next generation consoles to go fully digital - I feel like the Xbox One was onto something great when it was first revealed at E3 years ago, and when Microsoft got all that backlash against the console they had to quickly scrap everything interesting. But I think going forward they won't scare as easily, as the market is moving quicker and quicker to all digital.

At the very least, from the next gen consoles I expect BARE MINIMUM to be able to run games consistently at 1080p, 60fps. I think that's a fair expectation 2 years down the line, give or take whenever the next ten systems are announced.

I agree completely.
I used to be a console-player, but it was so silly to always buy new consoles, so I switched over to (a very expensive) PC. And I'd say "f*ck you consoles", if they didn't score with awesome exclusives. Only because of a few games I sadly have to buy a PS4 this summer.
