Yanez screamed: “Don’t pull it out,” and pulled his gun with his right hand. Yanez fired seven shots in the direction of Castile in rapid succession. The seventh shot was fired at 9:06:02 p.m. Kauser did not touch or remove his gun.

9:06:03 – 9:06:04 p.m. — Reynolds yelled, “You just killed my boyfriend!”

9:06:04 – 9:06:05 p.m. — Castile moaned and said, “I wasn’t reaching for it.” These were his last words.

The cop who shot Philando is such a ****ing dumbass. I get infuriated reading through their dialogue, he clearly wasn't reaching for his gun, and even if he was, if he was intending to use it he wouldn't announce the fact that he's carrying!

How can anyone be so ****ing stupid!?! GOD, I hate the police sometimes.

This truly is tragic man... I don't like that people are making this about race because it doesn't seem that way. I genuinely believe the officer thought he was reaching for a weapon(Even though he said he wasn't). You can tell in his voice that he wasn't just some racist cop looking to get away with something, and that he was genuinely heartbroken by what he did. I'm happy he wasn't charged because why ruin two lives over an accident? I understand he took someone's life, but it was obviously an accident. He obviously thought something was happening that wasn't. He didn't just murder the man because he wanted. It's not like Philando didn't have a gun, so the officer was not crazy. If someone was reaching in the general direction of their weapon while telling you they weren't reaching for their weapon would you risk your life and trust them? I'd have a hard time saying I wouldn't react similarly to how the officer did. I would have probably asked what he was reaching for but who knows?

I wouldn't be able to say this man committed manslaughter because I can genuinely see how he thought his life was endangered.

He was not trigger finger happy, he genuinely thought someone was intending to do him harm. It sucks that a man lost his life, but that is clearly what happened in the video.

He followed the directions in the worst possible way. He reached for whatever was in his pocket, which happened to be right next to his weapon. The officer continuously told him not to reach for his weapon and he reached in that general area. So no, he didn't get shot for following the officers directions. He got shot for reaching in the area of his weapon while being told not to reach for his weapon.

If you bothered to read the rest of my posts on this thread, you'd see I believe the cop was in the wrong.

To you're other point though, blacks don't have to walk on eggshells, as your said he's been pulled over 48 times already and all of those went fine.

This is on the cases where it went wrong, it happens to whites too. If anything, incidents like this show that cops need to be retrained when handling situations where they know the driver has a gun.

I agree in the sense that the guy was genuinely scared he might go for the gun but this just shoes me the guy isn't fit to be a cop. We expect cops to be held to a higher standard and be able to accurately deal with potential life threatening situations.

I think he should go to jail many people make mistakes and have to pay for it and send a message to future cops that you can't negligently be pulling your gun on people the dudes 4 year old was in the back seat you think he was considering that when he was shooting.

Also I do think there's a racial component in how it's legally and media deals with it imagine same exact situation and it's a white guy than I'm sure gun rights advocates would want to prosecute this unjust killing.
