This is the scenario:

We take a person that has a cheerful personality and place them on an island with other people, however these people are low energy and neutral. They like to drift like the wind and dislike any personalities that would disturb their pattern.

After 5 years of living on this Island, how would the cheerful person act?
If you answer that they would become low energy and neutral then what does this mean for our personalities?

Are our personalities based on what we THINK will give us the best response/approval in life?

How much of what we are based off our environment?

I can say mine is in public. I'm not like I am in school.

The person could choose to be bummed out or just become negative because the others bummed him/her out. I think it's the latter.

Nothing would change assuming nothing drastic happens. Change is naturally rejected by most people unless it's desired or necessary.

In your scenario, you could flip it around it and say the people with low energy and neutral gain a more cheerful personality.
Some people are just cheeky jovial fellows because they want to be like that. They adapt to society in public and might change their outward personality temporarily. But, for example, someone like me, has a totally uninterested, shy personality with strangers but a energetic, tough personality with familiar people.

Bruh, we're the same! Except for the tough part, I'm not tough, I'm childish.

You're predisposed to certain behaviors and your environment teaches you how to suppress and express those behaviors.

That said, the first question I quoted is a little inappropriate for this scenario because it's possible that this cheerful, high energy person would already get a good response with his/her/their initial personality. If he/she/they take the role of, say, the organizer, the facilitator of negotiations and interactions between the island people, etc - the leader, or the arbitrator - they might do quite well. Low energy people also aren't necessarily adverse to high energy people. It's possible this person might influence the low energy peeps to start being more active and expressive. Uniqueness is a distinguishing factor and people might choose to cultivate that trait.

In the same manner, a low energy person moving into an island with a bunch of Type-As might find his/her/theirselves a niche as the calmer, more relaxed person.

It all depends. Different personalities manifest even within families, so it's difficult to say why people are the way they are.

Haha, the tough part was probably a lie  we all have an ideal picture of us. Glad to see I'm not the only person like that.
