Obito waiting for Gai to die is a strategy, just like Naruto hiding underground against Neji is. Your logic creates unfair double standards for characters, a fight ends when one of the opponents dies. There's a difference between running away from a fight and neither person dies (Madara vs Hashirama), and Running away from a fight and coming back (Minato vs Masked man). Narutoverse characters have advantages over others. Obito's Kamui is simply a perfect counter.

. So much for "making up my own feats". There's also a scan right when Obito shoots the 4 TBBs where it looks like I'll get that one as well if you want it :)

Both were edo, and both were mortal due to Obito's light/dark jutsu that negated Edo Tensei's regeneration lol.

This is not true. He wins the battle by outlasting his enemy. It is cheating, but not forfeit.

Lol Leaving the Battle=/=Outlasting..

Someone waiting for another to die somewhere else means he can't fight the person..he's therefore not stronger than the person and isn't a match for the person since he can beat the person by his/herself or by his/her power. Therefore they lose the battle since they are not partaking in it..Simple

If there's a one on one and you run out of the battlefield, it's simply because you can't take the person on..Therefore the person wins. If you come back while the fight is over since you left, then you lost. Naruto was forced to the ground against Neji and planned to come back..Not to mention Genma would have made Neji the winner if he didn't come for a period of time. Similar to how Lee would have been pronounced the winner if Gaara didn't return back to this battle

Here's the thing, we look at vs threads differently then.

In my eyes the winner of a vs thread is based on the objective, Which is (generally) to defeat the other opponent until they die.

You're view is more of like a real life fighting sense, where if someone runs off because they're weaker than they lose. I would agree unless running away is part of the strategy.

Your version creates a double standard where taking advantage of someone by running away to win a fight is a big no no. Yet they're still completing their objective by defeating them. It just happens to be that instead of physically killing them they beat them mentally. If anything, that boils down to a condition/restriction.

A great example is Sasuke vs Deidara. Sasuke was strong to the point that Deidara had to use C0. Is Sasuke the loser because he ran away? No because he was taking advantage of Deidara's suicide attempt. Similar to how if Gai was using 8 gates against Tobi, he hides in Kamui because he's taking advantage of Gai's jutsu. The objective is for Gai to die, so Tobi is the winner because he completes the objective.

Also, you kind of backfired on yourself with the noun definition of fight. Even if Tobi hides in Kamui, it's still a struggle because he's still going to have to deal with Gai until he is gone.

This is fine and all, but if they are using a technique to escape from a certain attack then return to the battlefield is called strategy.

If they stay there until the enemy exhausts himself is called outlasting.

You lost me here Lol

All I know is, it's as simple as it is and nothing more...You talk about Real life but I wonder where in the Manga have you seen someone running or escaping the fight becoming the winner? Sasuke was almost disqualified for not coming to fight Gaara.

A great example is Sasuke vs Deidara. Sasuke was strong to the point that Deidara had to use C0. Is Sasuke the loser because he ran away? Lol completely different..Deidara was forced to use C0 and he killed himself because he lost. Gai's case is different when he hasn't even fought in the first place before the person runs away. The battle was over the second Deidara blew himself up..Meaning he died..Not to mention Sasuke was still in the battlefield when Deidara died as he and Manda got hit by part of the blast. In otherwords, they were still there when Deidara died. idara blows himself up, he dies first. The second DeSo you're wrong..The Objective is for Tobi to fight Gai..That's why it is called a fight between 2 people. Running to a different location is not your win..If the person dies by their own technique while you're in a different place, I'd love to know how you won that fight.

Also, you kind of backfired on yourself with the noun definition of fight. Even if Tobi hides in Kamui, it's still a struggle because he's still going to have to deal with Gai until he is gone.

Lol Nope..It is a struggle when he's not fighting? I hope you're not even serious. He's struggling when he's fighting against Gai. Being in a location for a long period of time is in no way a struggle Lol.

If they stay for a certain period of time, it's an automatic loss..If they use their technique to escape, it doesn't change the fact that they didn't use their own technique to defeat the other..so my point still stands. They didn't defeat the person.

You can't return to a fight when it is over Lol....you escape because you can't take part in it..Therefore you lost against that person since you can't confront or challenge the person. That's not happening because the essence of the fight has been ruined.

What's exactly the talk about?

Evani claims if Tobi was fighting 8 gates Gai. If Tobi uses kamui and hides in cube world while Gai dies, Tobi forfeits because he ran away.

Well, for me, it also counts as he ran away. It's a difference to teleport into his dimension to escape one blow, or to just teleport away and to wait until the opponent dies by the disadvantages of his technique. Of course, for this gauntlet it would be legitimate, as he would win the match, but he wouldn't win the "battle", as there never was a battle, lol.

But how's Guy relevant here anyway?

Hold up, hold up. He was almost disqualified because people were waiting to watch them fight and they were told to be at the place at x time. A tournament operates differently as well compared to a real battle, so the analogy doesn't work.

Fair point, agree. I was looking at it more of a Gai going 8 gates because he had to situation. Then again think about this. What if I made a vs thread that said c0 vs Minato. Would you forfeit Minato using FTG to leave because he was too weak for the technique?

The problem is you're looking at this too much in a arena styled sense. The purpose of a vs thread is for one guy to get the other guy to die. Hell, they're ninjas. Ninjas were known as being sneaky and skilled lol.

lolz, forfeit means escaping from battlefield, but the problem here is that, the whole world is Obito's battlefield as he can travel to any part of the world within a sec.

So, Obito is not bounded. Gai on the other hand is time bound due to 8th gate. i'm 100% certain that if Shikaku/Shikamaru were to give their input on this matchup, they would definitely count Obito's Kamui as a win cuz its a smart move. They are ninjas for fks sake. Anything for survival is a win.

I made an argument that if Juubito attempted the 4 TBBs + Barrier trick. They could all reverse summon through manda. Apparently that's a forfeit, despite coming back to battle Juubito?

Exactly, it is a win because he countered Gai's technique!

They could just teleport out of the barrier like they did in canon. The Bijuu cloak and the markings which Minato or Tobitama put on the others will connect them all. And it's no problem for Minato to make a seal in a distant area. He proved that he can do that. For the case that Juubito directly shoots his Bijuudama at them, so Minato can just counter it with a simple barrier.

Minato doesn't solo at all, Lol.
-Soung genjutsu from both Jiraiya and Kabuto is too much. Mud swamp removes any kunai's that are present. Kabuto uses bone forest to gg clones and then Minato himself.
