People under rating Obito's intelligence?

well you know uchihas is famous for making a bad decision..
i know it's stereotype, but it's there

The debate however is who in the top 5 actually holds what spot, IMO i dont have an intelligence list set in stone but its pretty clear that these are the smartest

1. kid obito had good morals and values... life above the mission is what he chooses
2. *you let RIN die* is symbolism for people having to kill their friends, not being able to save people, breaking promises. He doesn't want things like that to happen anymore... he wants to make the world obey his ideals. Rin's death broke his heart.
3. When his mask broke, he was no longer hiding his identity. Kakashi knows who he is so now it is personal and Obito is showing it. He wants Kakashi to understand the way of the shinobi is wrong, and why you shouldn't give up on your friends and break promises. You should find another way out rather than the easy way.. Kakashi killed Rin instead of killing the Enemy ninja (he wasn't strong enuff too at that time) so he chose the village rules over her... (kinda like following in his fathers footsteps instead of killing himself ) in Obito's eyes.

Uchiha Massacre involving Obito prob included Danzo and/or gaining Sharingan power, eliminating potential threats to the Moon's Eye Plan *Infinite Tsukuyomi* since sharingan can break out of sharingan genjutsu.. other than make a deal with Itachi :ls:

Those three reasons were an answer for the OP about what goes through people's minds when they 'underrate' Obito and his intelligence, not so much how I personally feel about Obito and his motives, intelligence or goals.

Yeah it is grossly underrated. However their are a couple of reasons for this. For one, they are mixing up Kid Obito and Adult Obito. They're mixing up his silly, stupid, enthusiastic personality of a Child Obito with smart, manipulative and evil Adult Obito. He also manipulated the entire ninja world by saying he is Madara and people didn't doubt this until Edo Madara was shown. As well as manipulating 9 Elite S-Ranking Criminals. People have forgot that since the masts broke. They aren't finding the resemblance between Tobi and Obito which is..everything. Also, since the mask broke, Obito seems to not think straight anymore. This is why.

Mostly because his decision-making process and line of reasoning are completely illogical, despite his apparent prowess at manipulation / general understanding of the workings of the world... he's skilled, but not necessarily the brightest bulb in certain areas.

unless madara fabricated rin's death, obito was not manipulated. madara and zetsu mentioned their plans. obito agreed it was the course of action he wanted to take

He's gone through a character rewrite

Madara and Kabuto are smarter than Obito. Do you remember what Kabuto did when Tsunade messed with his nervous system? He also organized a huge army in the war.
