You do realize meteors are big, right? And the only meteor pulled down was diced into pieces. So you're looking at the remains of just the one Meteor.
Fujitora did contribute to the fight, he's even the one who's holding him down while Doflamingo is talking..
I haven't weighed in because I'm not sure where I stand, I'm sorta in the middle
but I do wonder if anyone would complain if Luffy were to make a journey from what is basically a lot weaker than DD to (we can assume even) above Roger level in the course of part 2? it is not unreasonable to think that there will be no 2nd major time-skip
It would make perfect sense if Luffy would in fact beat Doflamingo
on the other side it would also make sense if he were weaker
post TS Luffy has no feats and not even any real hype as to what he has done so far, the best estimation of his power is probably Law because the most sensible thing to do is have Luffy be>= to Law, so I think we can safely say he is on Law's level and It's very possible that he is stronger
but it is impossible to say by how much, he could be = to Law or >> to Law
I get what you're saying. If you look at it plot/storywise, Luffy believes that being Pirate King means that you're the man that has the most freedom on the sea. So ideally that would mean that by the time he achieves this, he would have to be near enough unrivalled on the seas, which would require an insane amount of power.
Yet in the arcs up until the timeskip all Luffy experienced was overwhelming pain and loss. His crew was exhausted by a Pacifista, only for his crew members to disappear before him one by one, sent to what, at the time, may have seemed to be their deaths. Then he experienced the Marineford war, where in terms of fighting he was relatively helpless, and, despite managing to pull through to free his brother, Ace still died. A second loss for Luffy, one that yet again made him realise how helpless and weak he was, and brought about 3D2Y.
Now if we're talking about motivation, Luffy's motivation and willpower was insane before, so the training that he might have subjected himself to on the island in response to these failures should ideally be hellish, and not at all represented by the fact that he's still rather carefree and occasionally silly.
Ideally, the timeskip would be a turning point in the story, in which Luffy becomes strong enough to protect his Nakama in all but the most extreme situations. Whether it be fighting a threat head on, or simply giving space for them to flee (Something that he failed to do against a Pacifista 2 years ago). And, considering his liability to start fights, and the fearless threat he issued to Big Mom, I believe that he should have become strong enough to do so. Which would imply that he would be capable of handling threats such as Doflamingo, as if not, he wouldn't stand a chance in hell in the new world, and the time-skip would've been relatively pointless. As Luffy might aas well have just headed out into the NW straight away and kept his head down like everybody else, or simply hoped that his Luck would carry him through.
If anything, the only thing that the other Supernova's should have over him is the battle experience of fighting different types of humans, other than that, ideally Luffy should be notably stronger than all of them.
But then again, there may simply be the fact that the 2 year timeskip didn't provide him with a significant edge over the other Supernovas, and was simply a way for Luffy and his crew to survive despite their trouble causing and drawing personalities...
