Yep, missed that part. But not to be childish about it, but I really think thats plot this time, just to make Kabuto look bad ass to compensate for his wack ass downfall (without accomplishing anything) in this war. I mean, this is the same genjutsu that easily got owned by a sand genin, while Kurenai's genjutsu (leaf jonin) didnt do shit to Itachi because hes a master in genjutsu. And now suddenly he needs help from his little brother who sucks at genjutsu...

Even if they had intent to kill from the start it would have changed nothing. Bee even stated they were weakling and that was after they went at him with killing intent.

He did want to regain controll over itachi, After kabuto cut him in half you see kabuto attempting to place a marked Kunai into him (similar to what Orochimaru did to the senju brothers)

But he was saved by sasuke

1) Sasuke only used amaterasu once and didnt use susano'o at all, these 2 would make a difference. I dont think Bee's words hold that much meaning, we see characters making these type of remarks all the time and then a lot of them end up underestimating their opponent.
