Honestly though when it comes to Itachi & Kisame's convo, & the Orochimaru situation, Akatsuki members don't know whether or not Itachi and Orochimaru actually fought each other before Orochimaru left Akatsuki for good. So Kisame mentioning Legendary Sannin Jiraiya, alludes to him not knowing Itachi fought & defeated the other Sannin Orochimaru already.

The thing about that battle is the Sannin had to travel and fight their way to Hanzo in the Rain VIllage.
Hanzo didn't have to fight his way to them, because he was already at home and had the home field advantage.
The Leaf could've been worn out already when they finally made it to Hanzo.

Now quote the whole thing.
