Prior training. [ ]

Ashitaka sits down with his back against the tree, almost napping. It was a very warm day out, but this tree protected him from the sun's heat with it's shade.

zzz....

*Shinta appears and softly kicks Penguin in the side of his head, almost like he is pushing Penguin. The end result is Penguin falling flat on the ground.*

Sum up what you know of Genjutsu for me.

As Ashitaka is dozing under the tree, he momentarily feels something touch the side of his head. Not a moment later is he screaming, falling flat on the ground with his arms flailing.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

He immediately got up and dusted himself off as he saw the Fuukage and heard her demands.

Genjutsu? Genjutsu is sort of like ninjutsu. You use your chakra to do things a regular person cannot do. But unlike ninjutsu, which usually results in external damage, genjutsu manipulates the flow of chakra in your opponent's brain to induce illusions or control one or more of your five senses. There are many different kinds of weird and sadistic illusions to be seen. The sharingan is a dojutsu that is famous for both casting and defending against genjutsu. Genjutsu usually falls under yin release too. Dojutsu, hand signs, sound, etc. can be the trigger for many genjutsu. There are four ways of breaking genjutsu. Physical pain, full body surges, genjutsu kai, and someone else surging their chakra into your body. The thing with full body surges, the surge has to be one rank above the genjutsu for it to break. An example would be Chidori Nagashi being able to break the Snake Crushing Genjutsu. Unfortunately, Chidori Nagashi cannot stop the Bringer of Darkness Genjutsu, but the Bringer of Darkness only takes away your eyesight. As such, you can hear, smell, touch, and if you wanted to, taste your opponent. Notable genjutsu users are namely Itachi Uchiha, Obito Uchiha, Shisui Uchiha, Kurenai Yuhi, and The Second Mizukage.

Coolio. So I hope you know there are certain people in this world that are either immune to genjutsu, have trained their own special releases to genjutsu or are able to perform genjutsu without seals if they have the correct eyes. If so, give me some examples... and speaking of eyes, there is another field of genjutsu that only those red-eye people can use... we won't be covering that too much, but if you know the difference between sharingan genjutsu and standard genjutsu, try and explain it to me.

Yes. Them damn Nekura and their immunity to genjutsu. Valentines can somewhat sense that they are in a genjutsu, but they must break it from what I know. Kurama and Uchiha specialize in genjutsu. The Sharingan can cast illusions on the opponent with just eye contact, no hand seals. It is really freaky. Sharingan genjutsu can be cast with just eye contact, and without it, some won't work. Most other illusions are triggered through hand seals or other things such as light or sound. That is about all I know.

OOC: You only had one D-rank left O__O' I'm not sure why you stopped, especially since your partners in your prior training seemed to finish rather quickly.

You might also know Jinchuuriki's, like the one teaching you, is also immune to Genjutsu... Baka.

*Fuu then tosses you a scroll with some writing on it*

( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.

For this training, I've asked Chomei to not automatically kick me out of you genjutsu, so... Show me what you've got. You'll need to perform the Snake → Rat seals to cast the illusion. The first step is to make me see a swirl of leave appear around me, falling away after a short time to reveal a fear of mine to me. I want you to tell me what type of illusion this is, Binding, visual etc and prove some possible detection methods you possess to release you from this genjutsu. Also think if terrain would effect the use of this jutsu or not?

I forgot to mention that? Don't hurt me Fuu-chwan! :T_T:

Fuu tossed the scroll towards Ashitaka, and Ashitaka caught it and opened it. Looking at the scroll, it seemed as if a fairly easy genjutsu was written in here. His thoughts were reassured when Fuu said that Ashitaka would have to cast her into a genjutsu.

Ok, I bet it has been a while since you have been in a genjutsu, ey Fuu?

After uttering those words, Ashitaka performed the Snake → Rat hand seals and inserted some of his chakra into Fuu to disrupt her chakra flow. Then Fuu would suddenly start seeing a swirl of leaves to fall by her, and after a couple seconds they would disappear to show all the paper work she had to do back in the Fuukage's office.[/color]

I believe this is a visual based genjutsu, not a binding. And yes, the terrain should have some effect. If we were fighting in a sandy place, and leaves magically started falling, I would be rather suspicious about what kind of jutsu my opponent used. But if it was in Konoha with a bunch of leaves, it could just be a coincidence.

Awesome... you're going to learn the Kai release method now...

Tell me what you know of the genjutsu release known as Kai?

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

Genjutsu kai is stopping the circulation of chakra for a second, then spiking it. This flushes out any chakra that does not originate from your system, aka genjutsu. You can also do this method to a partner by placing your hand on them and inserting some of your chakra into their system. It's what Sakura and Chiyo did to help Naruto against Itachi. Anyone my rank that uses it can break up to S-rank genjutsu.

Excellent, now I want you to try demonstrating what a Kai actually is. I want you to stop your chakra for a brief moment and build up as much chakra pressure as you can, before releasing the block. This'll work better if you stand on water as it will demonstrate when you not only stop your chakra flow, but when you then release the block. Don't panic when you start to sink slightly, that will just be your queue to release the block... else you'll fall in the lake O__O'

*Points to a deep lake*

Well, let's hope I can do this. I am not one that likes to get wet. ">->

Ashitaka jogged towards the lake and applied chakra to his feet so that he wouldn't fall in once he was in the middle of it. Then, once Ashitaka was in the middle of the lake, he forms the bird hand seal. This in turn causes Ashitaka's chakra to stop circulating, and Ashitaka panicked slightly because he began falling into the water. But not a moment later, Ashitaka's chakra spiked to a huge level, and if any foreign chakra was inside of him, it would be gone. He was only ankle deep in water, and after climbing back up, he gave a thumbs up towards his sensei.

That's how we do it!

You'll need to build up greater pressure if you intend to purge yourself of higher ranked genjutsu than that. At best, I'd say you would have released a C-rank with that. Though time and experience will help you with the higher ranks.

( Kori Shinchū no Jutsu ) - Sly Mind Affect Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

This is a sensory illusion that effects the opponents vision to such a degree that it tricks there sense of balance. Your balance centre will do it's best to believe what the eyes are telling it, so long as you don't change the angle of the terrain... but I'm getting off track here.
For this jutsu, you'll cast an illusion that makes your opponent believe they are continuing their originally planned straight line towards their target, where in fact they are actually walking around in circles, serpentine or any other random path you set them on. You do this by causing their eyes to only see the straight line they started moving on, no matter which way they run they will believe they are heading towards this original destination...

Talk to me about your thoughts on this jutsu.

( Genjutsu: Jinmon ) - Illusion Technique: Interrogation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.

Not much use outside of the NW, pretty self explanatory and only works under the conditions listed in the description. This works by tricking the opponents mind into speaking about information they were supposed to keep secret by altering their perspective on what is secret and what it not, causing them to blurt out all there secrets with the right suggestions.

No real need to mention anything about this one, just mentioning it for your training.

That jutsu is really cool. If someone really strong tried to blitz me with their speed, I could do this and make them think they are coming at me, but instead the would go backwards away from me, granting me a nice cushion of distance from future blitzes. I'm sure they would notice they would be in the genjutsu seconds after running, but that is all the time I need. Very nice technique.

And considering we cannot actually use jutsu in the NW, this is very pointless Lol

I'm sure you'd be able to use that in an RP thread... then again... better not test that theory and instead just ask Madara when the time comes ^^

( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

So... self explanatory here. What type of genjutsu is this, how would you detect that it is a genjutsu and how could you use this in battle?

( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

Again self explanatory... answer the same as the above.

Holy butterball turkey that was fast O-O

The first would be a visual genjutsu, as you cast an illusion for the opponent to see a fireball coming down. I would detect that it is a genjutsu because I wouldn't feel the heat nor hear the sound from that illusion, nor see it's shadow I believe. I could use this in battle by actually using the genjutsu then attacking with an earth technique. The opponent would surely counter the fireball with a water as soon as they see it, unless they metagame Lol.

That is also a visual based genjutsu. I mean, I don't know if you could notice this is a genjutsu unless you look and don't see the blossoms shadow nor feel them, but by using a fuuton you could surely blow away the opponent and the petals before anything bad happens. I would use this technique then basically an attack from below or behind, since they would want to blow the petals away at first, not worrying about anything behind them.
