Pen testing

Hey guys... I was wondering if I do a penetration test (a brute force dictionary attack) on my home wifi network and my tethering device if it will consume data. I want to test my security, especially on my tethering device, but haven't yet because I don't want to incur any unnecessary data charges that I can avoid... Any feedback is welcome...(except negative feedback)

Also, I do know that it is ill advised, possibly illegal to pen test someone else's network without their knowledge or permission.

I dnt think it consumes any data..attacker just steals IVs over the air and bruteforces the router.Data is nt consumed till he finds your password and starts using it..lolz
