Sakura had potential for genjutsu in part 1, but developed her strength she would comically use when she trained with Tsunade. In part 2 she became stronger and her chakra control she was praised for as a kid aided her abilities as a medical-nin. As a person she developed, too. She went from a selfish fangirl who disliked Naruto and thought Sasuke was the best, to someone who healed others and cared about Naruto, even defending him when Sasuke attacked him and glaring at him. Something she would have never done in part 1.
