Part 1 Naruto is great

Rewatching it now, for some reason all the characters seem more complex than they do by the end of the story, they seem more like real people. It's like a more refined Hunter X Hunter with a more interesting and comprehendable fantasy world and lore. Kishimoto took too much advice from his new editor after Itachi's death. Originally Sasuke was going to rejoin team 7 on his own after hearing the truth, which would show his character was mature enough to not spiral into some childish illogical self destructive revenge tantrum. But noo the editor said keep him a bad guy so Kishi retconned his abnormally high IQ and made him wanna kill everyone.

That's when I became more reluctant take the story seriously. After that Gaara's dad comes back as an edo tensei and tells Gaara "nooo everyone did love u it's just cuz u kno you understand right??? 4
It's just that I'm a bad father n stuff so I tried to ruin your life and drive u crazy u kno *cris*" that also made it harder

Then Oonoki didn't didn't die from the meteor, then Madara didn't kill the Kages which I thought was lame especially after Oonoki's death was teased twice before in the same arc. There's a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day I just think Part 1 had a lot of stuff going for it like the original editor doing all he could to bring out Kishimoto's best writing and Kishimoto's passion for authoring manga and the story he was creating being at its peak.

I think part two far exceeded part one if we just look at it up until the Pein arc. Afterwards, if we take the entirety of Shippuden into account... yeah, part one was better.

However, I will say that part one was pretty generic- a typical shounen setup. Naturally, part two was more difficult to write as it was taking that set-up and shutting it down gradually. Kishimoto had the end result in mind for things after his first editor left (left when Sasuke said he wanted to destroy Konoha... so, initial staff only planned up until Itachi's truth reveal) but just didn't have a way to get there after he was gone- he had to take in new opinions from the new editors. Hence why the heart-to-heart talk during VotE 2 felt memorable and in character for both Naruto/Sasuke (as Kishimoto always had this in mind) but the stuff prior did not (as it was made as the story went on to get to the desired end).

Part 1 is okay, but overhyped especially anything to do with Rock Lee :kk: Personally I enjoy part 2 much more, it's a wild ride with part 2 man.

i liked part 1 better... they developed without getting super human stuff i just wish they continued using kunai and shurikens and stuff... but wth... it all started with a ****ing fox getting sealed inside naruto... i guess Kishi had no choise but to make everything planet buster supernatural stuff by the end :c

Almost everything until the pain arc is good...but sasuke became rogue knowing the truth about itachi and all those DBZ like powerup made the manga shit and on the top of that kaguya is just shitty shit

Part one action was great. Part 2 was susano this rasenshuriken that bijuu chakra this and fly non shinobi sh*t. Itachi made shippuden relevant after his death and Pein defeat the manga went downwards

That's exactly what Sasuke did. He's now protecting the emblem that killed off the Uchiha after they resisted peaceful solutions to peace (negotiation).

He didn't even bother killing off the elders or changing the shinobi system like he said he would, he just maintains the status quo now.
